OBD Code P0975 - Shift Solenoid "B" Control Circuit Range/Performance

<<See All OBD Codes

How does this error gets stored in the vehicle? What does P0975 error code mean? Improper shift transmission by the shift solenoid ‘B’ gives rise to the P0975 error code. In order to apply the clutch packs, the TCM will use the shift solenoid so that it can control the hydraulic pressure in the transmission. The different gear ratios in the transmission will make your vehicle to propel proficiently on the right path. If the TCM finds that the pressure control solenoid is poorly performing, the P0975 code will be set.

Learn More About OBD Error Code P0975

The shift solenoid valves are turned ON/OFF by the gear shift, which receives a command from the ECM. The engine light will be illuminated if there is an open or short circuit in the shift solenoid valve which in turn is detected by the ECM. The error code is stored and the ECM executes the failsafe function. Meantime, the other shift solenoid is turned to good condition On/Off

What causes this problem with the Shift Solenoid "B" Control Circuit Range/Performance?

  • Less level of transmission fluid.
  • Muddy transmission fluid.
  • Shift solenoid ‘B’ valve failure.
  • Harness or connectors of shift solenoid ‘B’ valve is damaged.
  • Opening or short circuit in the shift solenoid ‘B’ valve.

Symptoms Of OBD Error Code P0975

For us our customers are everything, and that’s why we will help you to diagnose P0975 code by mentioning some important symptoms below:

Common Symptoms

CEL will be illuminated, when the P0975 error code is stored. As the TCM will not be able to determine the proper functioning of SSB, it will control certain functions by entering failsafe operations like adaptive and self-learning controls. You will notice slow acceleration or unusual high revving as the transmission will lock out gears associated with SSB or bounds the shift range. The transmission will start operating through full range if the lockup of the torque converter or the dampening of harsh shifts of a pressure regulator is done with the help of SSB. You will notice a rough shift or the economy of the fuel will suffer.

How To Correct P0975 Shift Solenoid "B" Control Circuit Range/Performance

Wish to correct this error code with your vehicle? Do you know what all you should do to make your car free from this code? Well, don’t worry! We are here to guide you.

  • With the help of a pair of arms, the cylinder’s valves are placed close to each other so that they can replace the conventional engine’s roller-type rocker arm. With the P0975 error code, one arm will follow the cam profile whereas the second arm is attached to the valve. With the help of locking pin, 2 arms are joined during normal engine operation.

Don’t get tensed if you are still facing any of these issues as we care for our customers and that’s why we offer a good range of engine control module, transmission fluid, transmission control module, connector, and a lot more. We are sure that now all your issues would be resolved.

Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P0975

If you want to easily diagnose this fault code, then all you have to do is to follow the steps which are mentioned below:

  • P0975 error is related to performance issue which contributes to a faulty sensor, wire issues or ECM/TCM problem. To correctly diagnose this error, you will need a DVOM and vehicle specific wire diagram to check the resistance, continuity and the wire harness of SSB.
  • Inspect the wire harness. The electrical problem mainly arises due to problematic wires or bad connections. Communication with the SSB can be defined with the help of a wiring diagram. Carefully check for damages in the wire, eroded or bad connections by tracing the wire harness from module to transmission by setting a code for the performance of SSB in the module.
  • If the wires are in good condition, check each connector in the wire harness for the transmission joints. See if there is moisture or dirt in the connectors, if the pins or the terminals are bent, damaged or eroded. Any damage inside the connector has to be replaced quickly to make sure that it is completely placed and protected with lock tab.
  • Use a DVOM and check the continuity at the TCM harness. Separate the connector from the TCM module, find the signal circuit on the connector with the help of vehicle specific wire diagram. Use DVOM and check for continuity to the chassis ground. The continuity must be absent. If it is present, inspect the signal wire for short circuit to the ground. Shake the wire harness connectors along with wires. See if there is an erratic condition by checking the fluctuations in continuity. In a similar manner check the ground circuit wire to chassis ground. If there is no continuity, look for a break in the ground circuit for SSB.

Common Mistakes When Diagnosing The P0975 Code

  • TCM has failed.
  • Transmission fluid level is less.
  • Faulty transmission shift solenoid.
  • Problematic wires.
