Guide To P007A OBD Error Code Solutions
OBD CODE P007A - Charge Air Cooler Temperature Sensor Circuit Bank 1
Do
you want to know the reason why P007A trouble code is triggering up again and
again? The main reasons for this are that there is some sort of fault in the
air cooler temperature sensor, defective turbocharger or supercharger and there
can also be some issues with the power control module. Take care of all these
car parts or else your car may have to face some major issues.
Learn More about OBD Error Code P007A
Read
this information to know what P007A means. An intercooler is also known as a
charge air cooler and it is generally found in turbocharged or supercharged
vehicles. It is because of high pressure that the air which is compressed by
the turbocharger becomes extremely hot. Now the hot air would start entering
the charge air cooler where it cools down. That cool air would then start
entering the engine.
What causes this problem with the Charge Air
Cooler Temperature Sensor Circuit Bank 1?
- A
damaged charge air cooler temperature sensor
- Charge
air cooler temperature sensor harness may get opened or shorted
- Bad
electrical connection with the charge air cooler temperature sensor circuit
- A
defective sensor
- Wiring
issues
- Defective or restricted charge air cooler
- Distorted
power control module
Replace/Repair These Parts To Fix OBD Code P007A
- Engine Control Module - Common cause behind this P007A error code can be some fault
in Engine control module. So, it will be a good decision to replace them now.
- Air cooler assembly - A broken Air
cooler assembly can cause a lot of issues. It would be nice if you get it
replaced on time.
- Turbocharger - P007A code does
not really end up spoiling your engine control module, but it might also
accompany few Turbocharger issues. We have best Turbocharger related parts with
us.
- Supercharger - Defective car
Supercharger can be a major reason why P007A code depicts. So make sure to
replace it online so that you don?t have to face any further issues.
- Temperature Sensor - Some sort of
defects in Temperature Sensor can be a huge reason behind the appearance of
P007A code. So, you must get it fixed.
- Air Cooler Sensor - P007A code flashing? Get your Air Cooler Sensor inspected from a mechanic.
- Powertrain Control Module - P007A code does not really
end up spoiling your timing belt, but it might also accompany few powertrain
control module issues. We have best powertrain related parts with us.

How To Correct P007A Charge Air Cooler Temperature Sensor Circuit Bank 1
Have
a look at some ways with which you can correct the P007A code:
- Carefully
check the reference voltage side of the circuit. You must use a digital Multimeter
set to volts to check for a 5-volt reference from the PCM at one of the two
charge air cooler temperature sensor terminals. If there is no reference
signal, then just connect the meter set to ohms (make sure that the ignition
off) between the reference voltage pin on the CACT and the reference voltage
pin on the PCM. There is an open circuit between the PCM and the sensor if the
meter reads out of limits the it should be located and repaired properly. If a
numeric value is read by the meter, then there is continuity.
- If
you find out that everything is fine, you'll want to check that there is
5-volts coming out of the PCM at the reference voltage terminal. If there is
not a 5-volt reference from the PCM, the PCM is probably faulty.
- The next
step is to inspect the ground side of the circuit. Just connect the meter set
to ohms between the ground terminal on the charge air cooler temperature sensor
and the ground terminal on the PCM. If by any chance the meter reads out of
limits (OL), then there is surely an open circuit between the PCM and sensor.
This must be located and repaired. There is continuity if any numeric value is
read by the meter. Finally, you have to check that the PCM has a good ground.
You can do this by attaching one-meter lead to the PCM ground terminal and the
other one to chassis ground. Now again if the results of the meter are out of
limits, then there is surely an open circuit between the PCM and the ground
that should be carefully located and then repaired.

Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P007A
Visually inspect of the charge air
cooler temperature sensor as well as the wiring. There can be some loose
connections and damaged wiring which should be looked upon. You can also
inspect the charge air cooler and ducting. If damage is found, repair as
necessary, clear the code and then check if the code is returning back
or not.
- The first thing
which you have to do is preliminary circuit testing. Use a scan tool which would help you to monitor the charge
air coolant temperature sensor data parameter. Then you can disconnect the CACT
sensor. Due to this the value of scan tool should drop to a very low value. The
next step is to connect a jumper wire across the terminals. If a very high
temperature is displayed by the can tools, then the connections are sound and
the ECM can recognize the input. This would mean that the issue is with sensor
and it is not a circuit and a PCM related issue.
- After that the
sensor should be tested. You must disconnect the
charge air cooler temperature sensor connector. Then the resistance between the
two sensor terminals should be measured with the help of a digital Multimeter.
Set it to ohms. Start your car engine
and watch the value of the meter. With the warming up of the engine, the values
would start decreasing smoothly. If the overall engine temperature rises, but
at the same time CACT resistance does not decrease, then there is some
issue with the sensor. You must replace the faulty
sensor.
Common Mistakes When Diagnosing The P007A Code
- The
air temperature failure should be charged
- Failure with the Powertrain Control Module
- Some
issues with the wiring
