P007B - OBD Trouble Code
OBD CODE P007B - Charge Air Cooler Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1
Do you want to know the reason why
P007B trouble code is triggering up again and again? The main reasons for this
are that there is some sort of faults in the Charge-air Temperature Sensor,
defective turbocharger or supercharger and there can also be some issues with
the Powertrain Control Module. Take care of all these car parts or else your
car may have to face some major issues.

Canada is here for your service. An intercooler is also known as a charge air
cooler and it is generally found in turbocharged or supercharged vehicles. It
is because of high pressure that the air which is compressed by the
turbocharger becomes extremely hot. Now the hot air would start entering the
charge air cooler where it cools down. That cool air would then start entering
the engine.

How To Correct P007B Charge Air Cooler Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1
Learn the ways with which you can correct
this trouble code:
- You must inspect the reference
voltage side of the circuit. You must use a digital Multimeter set to
volts to check for a 5-volt reference from the PCM at one of the two
charge air cooler temperature sensor terminals. If there is no reference
signal, then just connect the meter set to ohms (make sure that the
ignition off) between the reference voltage pin on the CACT and the
reference voltage pin on the PCM. There is an open circuit between the PCM
and the sensor if the meter reads out of limits the it should be located
and repaired properly. If a numeric value is read by the meter, then there
is continuity
- If everything is good up to
this point, you'll want to check that there is 5-volts coming out of the
PCM at the reference voltage terminal. If there is not a 5-volt reference
from the PCM, the PCM is probably faulty
- The next step is to inspect the
ground side of the circuit. Just connect the meter set to ohms between the
ground terminal on the charge air cooler temperature sensor and the ground
terminal on the PCM. If by any chance the meter reads out of limits (OL),
then there is surely an open circuit between the PCM and sensor. This must
be located and repaired. There is continuity if any numeric value is read
by the meter. Finally, you have to check that the PCM has a good ground.
You can do this by attaching one-meter lead to the PCM ground terminal and
the other one to chassis ground. Now again if the results of the meter are
out of limits, then there is surely an open circuit between the PCM and
the ground that should be carefully located and then repaired
Don’t get tensed if you are still facing
any of these issues as we care for our customers and that’s why we offer a good
range of Powertrain
Control Module, Timing Belt, Throttle Position Sensor
and a lot more. We are sure that now all your issues would be resolved.
Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P007B
The best thing
would be to visually inspect the charge air cooler
temperature sensor as well as the wiring. There can be some loose connections
and damaged wiring which should be looked upon. You can also inspect the charge
air cooler and ducting. If damage is found, repair as necessary, clear the code
and see if it returns.
- You
can always do some preliminary circuit testing. You can always use a scan tool
which would help you to monitor the charge air coolant temperature sensor data
parameter. Then you can disconnect the CACT
sensor. Due to this the value of scan tool should drop to a very low value. The
next step is to connect a jumper wire across the terminals. If a very high
temperature is displayed by the can tools, then the connections are sound and
the ECM can recognize the input. This would mean that the issue is with sensor
and it is not a circuit and a PCM related issue.
- The next step is
to test the sensor. You must disconnect the charge air cooler temperature
sensor connector. Then the resistance between the two sensor terminals should
be measured with the help of a digital Multimeter. Set it to ohms. Start your
car engine and watch the value of the meter. With the warming up of the engine,
the values would start decreasing smoothly. If the overall engine temperature rises, but at the same time CACT
resistance does not decrease, then the sensor would be defected and it should be immediately replaced.
Common Mistakes When Diagnosing The P007B Code
- The
air temperature failure should be charged
- Failure with the Powertrain Control Module
- Some
issues with the wiring
