      DENSO

      DENSO oxygen sensors emerged with the advent of advanced fuel injection systems and their basic job is to monitor the air-fuel mixture under idle, moderate acceleration, and cruising conditions. Under heavy acceleration, the oxygen sensor goes into an open loop, which basically means that the engine management computer system ignores the oxygen sensor. Oxygen sensors have a limited range and capability in detecting and adjusting the difference from an optimum air/fuel ratio.

      As the automotive industry continues to improve on its standards, DENSO is keeping pace with advancements in our engineering to meet the demands of the industry. Furthermore, the vehicle owners are now holding on to their vehicles for longer periods and DENSO continues to make auto parts available for such applications. Oxygen sensors are also known as Lambda sensors and they are among the most sensitive and critical components of your vehicle's engine. Fuel injection systems usually used one oxygen sensor in the exhaust system to maintain a closed-loop control for a balanced air-fuel mixture. However, engines today use four sensors, that not only monitor the oxygen content in the exhaust gas but the efficiency of the catalytic converter as well. The oxygen sensors have to adhere to OEM standards and close tolerances to perform the functions properly. A malfunctioning or incorrectly calibrated oxygen sensor can lead to costly and time-consuming repairs. DENSO First Time Fit® oxygen sensors are engineered to meet these tolerances and provide OEM fit and function.

      Denso provide 12 month of warranty. IMPORTANT A/C COMPRESSOR WARRANTY NOTE: In order to ensure that proper warranty credit is issued if needed, the compressor installation instructions must be adhered to. All compressors returned for defect must show proof of purchase of an Orifice Tube/Expansion Valve, Drier, and A/C System Flush or a Work Order showing the purchase of these items and that the system was flushed.

      This is the primary oxygen sensor for my 2003 Mazda MPV, situated in the trickiest spot to replace, but my mechanic managed it in an hour. The van's running smoothly again and that pesky engine light is finally off. Great product.

          This is the go-to replacement for the sensor closest to the firewall. Pro tip: use a hanger to yank the old one out while you unhook the wiring harness with your free hand. You'll need to get under the car to unscrew it though.

              Got this sensor for my 2003 Mazda MPV with the Ford 3.0L V6, and it fit perfectly in the exhaust manifold before the catalytic converter of the rear cylinder bank. Had to deal with a pesky error code for a bad heater in the O2 sensor, so I picked up the right one from Parts Avatar. Installing it was a bit of a challenge, definitely not the easiest job. It's easier to remove the sensor if your car's lifted, but unplugging the connector is a whole other story—super tricky to reach from either beneath or above. If you're attempting this yourself, you might just end up preferring to pay a good mechanic, ideally one with really long arms! What's nice is the price of these sensors has dropped since I first had to replace one a few years back, which is great since my vehicle has four of them. Guess it's only a matter of time before I'm back at it with the next one.

                  Swapped out the sensor on my 2003 MPV Bank1 sensor 1, which was a bit tricky to get to, and the persistent CEL with code P0031 is gone. It's a perfect OEM match. Happy days!

                          If you're tackling the installation of this on a 2000-2004 Mazda MPV, do yourself a favor and check out MPVClub.com for a guide. This is for Bank 01, Sensor 01 and it's a tuogh one to replace. You'll need a sensor removal tool too. It was a real pain to install, but with the sensor being only about $50 CAD versus paying a mechanic $500+ CAD, it felt like a victory.

                              The part was exactly as described and resolved the CEL issue. Most of the time, low voltage or sluggish readings mean you need to replace these O2 sensors. Without deep diagnosis, the low cost made me just give it a shot, and it worked.
