OBD Code P0934 - Hydraulic Pressure Sensor Circuit Low

<<See All OBD Codes

You’re having an P0934 code flashing, which is also known as hydraulic pressure sensor circuit low. But you still can’t make sense of what that means or how to get rid of it! Well, don’t panic, we are here to break it down for you. The TCM stores the code P0934 when it notes an unacceptable signal from the Accumulator Pressure sensors.

Learn More about OBD Error Code P0934

Your vehicles Line Pressure Sensor (LPS) measures the hydraulic pressure, which is electronically controlled by the Transmission Control Module. The desired line pressure is continuously measured and compared to the present line pressure, and is then regulated electronically. This happens by changing duty cycles of the Pressure Control Solenoid (PCS). The TCS is responsible for calculating the line pressure desired based on the inputs from the transmission as well as the engine. The primary input is the calculated torque input to the transmission, this is compared to the Torque Based Line Pressure (the desired line pressure). If the Transmission Control Module finds that the Hydraulic Pressure Sensor isn’t working as per requirement it will proceed to setting error code P0934.

What causes this problem with the Hydraulic Pressure Sensor Circuit Low

  • Malfunction of the Hydraulic Pressure Sensor
  • Open or shorted harness of the Hydraulic Pressure Sensor
  • Poor electrical connection in the circuit of the Hydraulic Pressure Sensor
  • Hydraulic power unit assembly has failed
  • Failure of the Transmission Control Module (TCM)

Easy Diagnosis of Engine Error OBD Code P0934

Learn about how you can diagnose the P0934 error below and follow the instructions to sort this problem out.

The P0934 like other low input codes can be due to low battery voltage, poor connectors, damaged wiring and corroded electrical connectors. Other causes could be poor installation of components or poor quality of parts used for replacement. Start off with diagnosing the circuitry, you will need a DMM (digital multimeter) and a vehicle specific EWD (electrical wiring diagram). Do a visual inspection and check the wiring harnesses for any damages, like a short circuit. Proceed to checking the connector for any water entry or damaged pins, also make sure they are properly seated. You will have to repair all the faults or make replacements as necessary. Go for the best parts as the issue may remain unresolved otherwise. Check the Line Pressure Sensor (LPS) circuits too.

Proceed on to sensor checks, by checking voltage and ground present and repair as needed. Key should be On and then using the DMM measure the LPS supply voltage at 5V and OV to the ground, with some variable voltage on the signal line. If you find 5V reference and 5V ground then you are having an open circuit to the ground. You will have to trace the ground circuit and repair it accordingly. If the measurement you have found is 5v reference and 0V ground, but over 4.5V signal, then its an internal LPS short. But don’ finalise the sensor until final circuit checks are performed. Disconnect the LPS, and you should fine a 5V reference and Ov signal and ground. If the ground signal is over 0v then trace the circuit and find the short to power and repair it.

The last step is the circuit check, turn off the key and disconnect the ECM and LPS. Now check the circuits end-to-end. There should be a 0 Ω end to end and over 10 kΩ to each other as well as the ground. If you find any measurements to be off the manufacturers prescribed specs, then trace and repair the fault as needed.
