• A DVOM or scanner can help you to carefully diagnose this error code. To close the circuit between ignition switch and starter solenoid assembly, clutch start switch is used in many vehicles.
• In order to close the circuit between the ignition switch and starter solenoid, a clutch start switch is usually used.
• The clutch start switch is placed near the foot pedal of support bracket and its design varies from one to other manufacturer.
• One side of the switch has regular supply of voltage, and when they come in contact, switch is closed and voltage is sent across the contacts and as well as to the starter relay.
• Visually inspect for damaged wires, connectors and shorted or open circuit and replace them as needed.
• Once you replace, retest the system to check if it works.
• If every component works properly, attach the scanner to the diagnostic port to recover freeze frame data and other stored codes. They can be helpful in diagnosing if the condition is erratic.
• Once the codes are cleared, check the vehicle to see if it appears.

• If you don’t find voltage on the output side, but if it is available in the input side, then the clutch position sensor can be faulty.

• If you find the voltage now on the output circuit, you must now test the resistance and continuity between PCM and switch on the output clutch position sensor.
• Before you test, detach all the connectors.
• You can also check the wiring diagram of the vehicle so as to ensure that the tests are carried out properly.
• Repair the corroded or faulty circuits and connectors.
• If everything is perfect as per the manufacturer’s specification, then there can be a faulty PCM which occurs very rare and needs to be reprogrammed.
