If you want to easily diagnose this fault code, then all you have to do is to follow the steps which are mentioned below:

 

  • Visually scan the TFT sensor and its wires. See if there are any broken wires and repair them as desired.
  • Inspect your TSB for this issue, else you have to carry out a step by step diagnosis process. In order to carefully diagnose you have to use the diagnostic flow chart listed by the manufacturer.
  • Carry out a preliminary test. Using a scan tool, you have to monitor few parameters. Now detach the TFT sensor and attach jumper wires across them. If the scan tool shows high temperature, then the connections are better and they can identify the input.
  • The main problem lies with the sensor and so test the sensor. Inspect the resistance between the terminals with DVOM setting to ohms. Start the engine and the value should fall and as it warms. If the temperature increase and the TFT resistance does not decrease, then component has to be altered.
  • Inspect for reference signal and if not present connect it to the meter on the PCM. You will see an opening if the meter reads out of limits between the PCM and the sensor which needs mending.
  • A numeric value in the meter, indicates it is good. Check for 5 volts from the PCM at reference voltage terminal, if not so, the PCM is faulty. Check for proper ground circuit and attach it to the meter between TFT sensor and the ground terminal.
  • An opening will be found if the meter reads out of limit. Finally check for proper ground by connecting the PCM ground terminal to the chassis. If it reads out of limit, then there will be an opening and it needs fixation.
  • If everything is good, there can be an issue with the transmission. This especially holds true as the fluid temperature codes are set with other transmission codes.
