The P0229 trouble code can be defined as throttle/pedal position sensor/switch C circuit intermittent. It is a generic OBD-II code which would indicate that the throttle/pedal position sensor/switch C circuit has a intermittent input problem which is causing the sensor input to the ECM to be intermittent than the expected voltage input as compared to the throttle position sensor A.

The electronic throttle control actuator comprises of throttle control motor, throttle position sensors etc. The throttle position sensor would respond to the throttle valve movement.

There are two sensors in the throttle position sensor. These sensors are a type of potentiometers which can transform the throttle valve position into the output voltage and would start emitting the voltage signal to the engine control module.
