Door Hardware
About Door Hardware
A vehicle door can be opened to provide access to the opening, or closed to secure it. A car door is a type of door, typically hinged with the body, but sometimes it is attached by other mechanisms such as tracks, the doors can slide on the tracks for opening and closing. A single door needs lots of hardware depending on the vehicle, cars could be 2 or 4 doors, the 5th door is usually known as dicklet. In modern cars there are many of safety features like door airbag, central locking, auto safe lock, automatic lights getting on or off, etc, due to this, extra safety parts and components fitted, extra hardware is needed, hardware could be like, door hardware for door lock and latch, hardware for rear view assembly, small plastic hardware for inside linkages, clips and clamps, buttons for wiring harness, door hinges, nut or bolt for door hinge, screws for fitting of door lock barrel or key barrel, rivets or screws for fitment of door audio speakers, screws for door trim, and many more.
How It Works?
No matter what type of vehicle you drive, the mechanisms at the car door must constantly be used. Such components can be either manual or motorized and are used for some purpose. The door lock is the mechanism within a car door which controls the door lock. The door lock is positioned just below the key latch. A thin metal rod extends between the door lock and the key latch, connecting them. A second thin metal rod attaches the key latch to the knob that sticks from the top of the door trim inside, this knob goes up and down to show whether or not the door is locked. When the door lock is in use, the door locking key will either be moved up or down (either through power supply for electric door locks, or manual locking force). When the key is in the unlocked position the door handle on the outside of the car is connected directly to the mechanism of opening. That makes opening and closing the door. The door handle on the outside of the car is removed from the opening mechanism when the door locking lever is in the locked position, which disables a person on the outside of the car to open and close the door without the key.
