Willing to know what the meaning of letter “B” in this definition? The letter “B” refers to the signal voltage circuit as opposed to the input circuit voltage. And the “circuit malfunction” means that there is a malfunction in the control circuit as opposed to a fault in a sensor or some other component.

What causes this problem with the Fuel Pressure Sensor 'B' Circuit Low?

  • Default in the fuel pressure sensor 'B'
  • Fuel Pressure Sensor 'B' harness may be opened or shorted
  • There can be poor electrical connection in the fuel pressure sensor 'B' circuit

Replace/Repair These Parts To Fix OBD Code P018C

  1. Powertrain Control Module - P018C code can display due to some faults in the Powertrain Control Module. So, it is very important to replace the Powertrain Control Module with us at equitable prices.
  2. Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor - Do you remember when was the last time you got your car Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor checked up? A damaged Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor can cause a lot of issues like displaying P018C code.
  3. Fuel Pressure Sensor - Faulty Fuel Pressure Sensor can cause a lot of difficulties, so why not get it replaced at time?
  4. Fuel Pump - Are there some faults in your Fuel Pump? Don’t waste time and get them replaced or else P018C code can turn up.
  5. Oxygen Sensor - OBD Code P018C can appear because of faulty Oxygen Sensor.

Symptoms Of OBD Error Code P018C

Willing to know some common symptoms of OBD Trouble Code P018C? Your wish is our demand. Have a look at them below:

Common Symptoms

  • The condition of hard starting may be present
  • The car engine may start, but shut off again almost immediately if an invalid signal from the fuel pressure sensor deactivates the fuel pump
  • The issue of rough idling, or hesitation and/or stumbling upon acceleration may be present on some applications
  • It all depends upon the application as a -start condition may be present. There are some cases where a fuel pump could be deactivated because of invalid signal from the fuel pressure sensor
  • Some cases can arise where the engine might not idle at all
  • Frequent, or unpredictable stalling might be present on some applications
  • The fuel consumption may start increasing on some applications

Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P018C

If you find out that the fuel pressure sensor is appearing functional as it is all based on its internal resistance, even then you should not assume that will actually work properly throughout its operating range. The only way with which you can be sure that the sensor works as intended, is by connecting the scanner to the vehicle and then you must set it so that it can monitor the live data from the pressure sensor. Now you must start the car engine, but bear in mind that if the engine is running at a steady RPM, the signal voltage generated by the sensor should remain fairly constant. A momentary drop would be caused by raising the speed of the engine sharply in the fuel rail, and this change caused in the pressure should be reflected immediately in the display of the scanner. In the same way the decreasing of the engine speed would raise the fuel pressure and its change would also be reflected on the scanner. The change would be reflected in the form of a changing signal voltage in both the cases. Now if the change turns out to be slow, erratic or if you find out that there is no change in the signal voltage, then the signal wire to the powertrain control module must be defective. If this is suspected, then you must prepare to perform resistance, continuity as well as ground circuit checks on all the wiring. Just remember to disconnect the wiring from the powertrain control module so that no damage is caused to the controller.

Common Mistakes When Diagnosing the P018C Code

  • Powertrain Control Module might start failing
  • There can be some default in the pressure sensor
  • The issue of wiring may arise
