P018E OBD Error Code: Problem & Solutions
Obd code P018E - Fuel Pressure Sensor B Circuit Intermittent/Erratic
Are you facing the issue of illuminations in the check engine
light? Some sort of defects in the fuel pressure sensor? Has the overall engine
performance started decreasing? These are all the symptoms of P018E trouble code
and if you are experiencing the same, then you must immediately get these
fixed.
Learn More About OBD Error Code P018E
The fuel pressure is monitored with
the help of fuel pressure sensor in the fuel system. This information is used
by the fuel pump control module to adjust the fuel pump on time as needed. If
there is no change seen in the pressure by the fuel pump control module from
the fuel pressure sensor when the fuel pump is activated, then it would give
rise to P018E trouble code.
What causes this problem with the Fuel Pressure Sensor 'B'
Circuit Intermittent/Erratic?
- Defective Fuel Pressure Sensor 'B'
- Fuel Pressure Sensor 'B' harness may be opened or shorted
- Bad electrical connection with the fuel Pressure Sensor 'B' circuit

Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P018E
Make sure that you have turned on
the ignition. You must use a multi meter set to DC volts so that you can check
for reference voltage which is usually 5 volts from the powertrain control
module. You can do this by connecting the negative meter lead to ground and the
positive meter lead to the sensor B+ terminal on harness side of the connector.
If you find out that no signal is
present, then you must connect the meter set to ohms between the reference
voltage pin on the fuel pressure sensor and the reference voltage pin which is
present on the powertrain control module.
If you find out that the meter is
reading out of limits, then it means that there is an open circuit between the
powertrain control module and then the sensor should be located and repaired.
If a numeric value is read by the
meter, then it means that there is continuity. Now if everything is good up to
this point, you will have to inspect that is power coming out of the PCM. This
can be done by turning the ignition on and set the meter to DC volts.
The positive meter lead should be
connected to the reference voltage terminal on the PCM and the negative lead to
ground. If there is no reference voltage
from the PCM, then it means that there is some fault in the powertrain control
module. There are very rare chances of powertrain control module going bad, so
it would be a good idea to check your work once again.
Common Mistakes When Diagnosing the P018E Code
- There can be some failures with the
powertrain control module
- The Pressure sensor can have some defects
- The issue of wiring can arise
