Installation is a breeze once the bumper's off

Here's a tip for installing in your driveway: Block the rear wheels, loosen the front wheel lugs, jack up the car, and use jack stands. Remove the front wheels and place them under the car for safety. Take the front part of the fender liners off, open the hood, remove the fasteners on the cover across the headlights, and then take off the bumper. Place a drain pan under the power steering cooler hose clamps, loosen the clamps, remove the hoses and drain the ATF. Follow the reverse order to put everything back. Fill the power steering reservoir, and with the wheels off the ground, turn lock-to-lock to bleed air. This might take about 15 minutes. Start the engine for 3 seconds at a time to check the fluid level, repeating until it stays full. Then let the engine run for 2 minutes, turning the steering wheel slowly. Check for leaks and fluid level. After a 15-minute drive, check everything once more.

For a smooth driveway install, block the back wheels, loosen the front wheel lugs, jack up the car, and support it with stands. Take off the front wheels and slide them under the doors for safety. Remove the front part of the wheel liners and the fasteners on the plastic cover across the headlights. After ditching the bumper, place a drain pan under the power steering cooler hose, loosen the clamps, pull the hoses, and let the fluid drain. Reverse the process to put it all back together. Fill the steering reservoir, then work the wheel lock-to-lock to bleed the system. This might take 15 minutes. Fire up the engine for 3-second bursts, checking the fluid level until it stays full. Run the engine for 2 minutes, turning the wheel slowly. Check for leaks, and after a 24-kilometer drive, double-check everything.

I had a 2009 Chevy Traverse with a leaky original tubing. Swapping it out was a breeze—just a couple of bolts, lines, and clamps, and no more leaks. I've used Dorman Parts before, so I knew what to expect. The quality's right up there with the OEM, and the price is usually fair. Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference in quality from the original. I'd definitely recommend it. If you're looking to save a couple of bucks, this one's a winner.
