How To Install Auto Grille Emblem?
There
are two ways to install grille emblems onto the vehicle and depending on the
vehicle make and model, the procedure will vary. This guide will show you how
to remove the old emblem on your car and install new ones:
- For
Stuck-On Emblems - Use a plastic scraper and insert it between
the grille and the emblem and gently scrape off the emblem from the tape
underneath. This will require a little persistence but should come right off.
Alternatively, you can use a heat gun
or a hairdryer to heat the surface of the emblem which will warm up the glue
and help reduce the effort required to remove it.
- Once
the emblem is off and if the tape is still adhered to the surface of the grille
use a plastic scraper to remove all the gunk before installing the new emblem.
- Now
use 3M double-sided tape and stick the emblem in its location. Apply a little
pressure to make sure the adhesion is strong.
- For
Emblems with Tabs - These need to be removed from the back of the
grill end accessing it requires you to remove the bumper or you could access it
from the hood.
- Pop
the hood and remove the radiator cover using a clip tool to unlatch all the
clips holding it.
- If
you have direct access to the back of the grille then skip this step,
otherwise, remove the hood latch using a ratchet and the appropriate socket for
better access.
- Now
using pliers or a plastic pry tool remove the tabs that hold the emblem from
the back, avoiding scratching the grille. Save the retaining tabs or clips to
use with the new emblem.
- Now place the new emblem in place and install the tabs or clips. Make sure the emblem is held on securely.
- Reinstall all other parts and the installation of the grille emblem is complete.
