Things You Should Know About Car LED Strips
What Is Auto LED Strips?
Are you searching for
some information about LED Strips? Then wait no more as you have arrived at the
right location. Here you will find everything you want to know about LED
Strips. Keep on reading further. One of the most common sources of light are
the LED strips as they would last for a long period of time and then very
little energy would be used in comparison to incandescent bulbs. These strips
are very versatile as you can place them anywhere where ever you will have an
electrical connection. If you want to add a little bit of extra lighting under
cabinets or in your car, then you can easily install LED strips.
How Do Auto LED Strips Work?
Let us understand the basic working of
the car LED light strips. It is the 12V supply which would power the light strip
controller which then drives each light strip with separate red, green, and
blue on/off waveforms. It is with the help of these waveforms that how
brightness and colour combinations become possible. There is a need of
resistors so you can limit the amount of current which would be received by
each LED segment.
Purpose Of Auto LED Strips
The main purpose of the
LED light strips is that it is worked by being driven by a special power supply
which would then control the amount of time as well as which colour LEDs switch
on and off.
Tools Needed For Auto LED Strips

How To Change Auto LED Strips?
Do you want to change
your LED Strips on your own? Then have a look at the steps of changing
the LED Strips below:
There are some custom
cars which would sometimes include custom accent lighting final touch to
highlight the lines of the grill or the headlights or sometimes even to
illuminate the foot wells which are inside the automobile. It is the flat LED
strips which would fit very easily between trim panels and would be adapted
very easily for a lot of lighting solutions. The best part is that you can
easily cut the flat LED lighting strips to the length which is desired by you for
any sort of project and then it should be connected to the existing wiring of
the vehicle. If you will connect the LED wiring to a lot of auto light
circuits, then you can easily control the illumination of the lights.
Step 1
The LED strip lights
should first of all be cut to the sired length by cutting between groups of
lights, as per the manufacturer's recommendations.
Step 2
Then the next step would
be to expose and then strip the ends of the wires which would lead to the LED
lights.
Step 3
The wiring circuit which
would be tapped into to power the lights should then be identified. Then
circuit which would be used by you would then be able to determine which the
lights would be on. Let us understand this with the help of an example. You
might install the LED lights which would blink with the turn signal.
Step 4
The voltage tester
should then be used so that the right wire can be identified. For example,
first of all you should carefully disconnect the wiring harness for the turn
signal, then the signal should be turned on and then the wiring harness should
be probed to identify the wire which is carrying the current.
Step 5
You should then identify
the fuse for the wiring circuit you plan to tap into, and then the fuse should
be removed. You should then tap into the wiring circuit, by utilizing a
pinch-type splitter to connect a length of wire to connect to the LED lights. Then
all you have to do is to insert the wire ends into the splitter and then pinch
closed. The splitter and wire bundle should then be wrapped with electrical
tape.
Step 6
Then you should route
the wiring to the location where you will install the LED lights, by utilizing
electrician's fish wire to pull wire which would be beneath carpets. The wiring
should then be glued in the place trim panels as per the requirements. The end
of the power wire should then be stripped and then you should solder it to one wire
on the LED strip light. The soldered wires should then be covered with
electrical tape.
Step 7
Both the ends of a
length of wire should then be stripped long enough to reach from the LED lights
to a bolt or screw on the frame of the automobile. The bolt should then be
loosened up and then one end of the wire should be connected to it. The other
end of the wire should then be routed to the LED lights and solder it to the
LED ground wire. The soldered wires should then be covered with electrical
tape. The LED lighting strips should then be mounted in place securely with
silicone adhesive or zip ties.
