A P2828 fault code is stored when the transmission control module (TCM) or powertrain control module (PCM) detects a mismatch in the signal and functioning from the pressure control solenoid “K”. The control module perceives this problem as a mechanical disengagement of the gears, and can result in erratic shifts and drivability issues.

The PCM controls automatic transmission system by using multiple gear ratios and increase the vehicle speed to maximize the engine’s power output.
