  • It is essential to consult your vehicle information source for technical service bulletins (TSB) that replicate the code stored, vehicle (year, make, model, and engine), and symptoms exhibited. If you find the appropriate TSB, it may yield helpful diagnostic information.
  • You will require a diagnostic scanner and a digital volt/ohmmeter to accurately diagnose a code P2541. A reliable source of vehicle information will also be required. Begin by connecting the scanner to the vehicle diagnostic port and retrieving all stored codes and freeze frame data.

If all prior tests have passed and you continue to get a P2541, this would most likely indicate a failure in the FPS sensor, although a failed PCM could not be ruled out until the FPS sensor had been replaced.
  • If unsure, then you should seek assistance from a trained automotive diagnostician. PCMs should be programmed, or calibrated to the automobile in order to be installed in the right manner.
