P0BA6 - OBD Trouble Code
OBD Code P0BA6 - Hybrid Battery Voltage Sense "V" Circuit Low
The trouble code P0BA6 can be
explicated as Hybrid Battery Voltage Sense “V” Circuit Low. The hybrid/electric vehicle battery pack
incorporates in itself a total of 288 cells. There is an arrangement of three
cells each that are all fused together in regularity. Apart from this, in the
hybrid/EV battery pack assembly there are a total of 96 cell groups. All these
cell groups are attached through an electrical connection that is in-series.
The individual cell group can be seen to be rated at 3.7 V for a nominal system
voltage of 355 V direct current. In three equal sections, the battery cells are
divided. The battery section one can be seen being composed of first 90
cells/30 cell groups. This section can be located near to the cowl. It consists
of batteries within 67 to 96. The battery section two can be found at the back
of the section one. Containing 72 cells/24 cell groups the batteries present
span from 43 to 66. The section number three is known as the transverse battery
section. The remaining 126 cells/42 cell groups and batteries from 1 to 42 make
up the section three. These three battery sections are valid for individual
service.
In addition to that, the battery
energy control module from time to time controls and regulates the voltage of
the 96 battery cell groups utilizing the four hybrid/EV battery interface
control modules. These voltage sense circuits are all teamed to each individual
cell group. All these sense circuits end at a connector that can be observed on
the top surface area of the battery section. A serviceable auxiliary battery
wiring harness plays the role of connecting this connector to a hybrid/EV
battery interface control module (also located on the top surface of the
battery section). The hybrid/EV battery interface control module performs the
essential function of encoding the voltage reading and further transferring it
to the battery energy control module by the battery control harness. There is
one hybrid/EV battery interface control module positioned over the battery
sections one and two, while the rest of the
two hybrid/EV battery interface control modules are connected with battery
section three. All the components namely the hybrid/EV battery interface
control module, battery energy control module wiring harness, auxiliary battery
wiring harness, and battery energy control module can be individually serviced.
Whenever there is a malfunction, it is
detected by the battery energy control module. All the diagnostics and system
status present are regularly updated from the battery energy control module to
hybrid/EV powertrain control module 2 using the serial data. Also, all the
diagnostic trouble code information is stored and saved in the hybrid/EV
powertrain control module 2.
Learn More About OBD Error Code P0BA6
The high battery voltage pack is
made up of a lot of mini-batteries connected together. If the high voltage
control module detects an error with more than one battery packs that from the
high voltage battery assembly, the code P0BA6 is stored by the high voltage
control module.
What causes this problem with the Hybrid
Battery Voltage Sense “V” Circuit Low?
- Hybrid/electric vehicle battery pack might be flawed
- Malfunctioning hybrid/electric vehicle battery interface control module
Replace/Repair These Parts To Fix OBD Code P0BA6
- Hybrid Drive Cooling Pump - The cooling
pump play a major role in keeping the battery temperatures under control and
ensuring proper functioning. If the pump gets damaged, it can lead to increased
temperatures that can hamper many starting and charging parts. Thus, replace it
immediately, if found damaged.
- Inverter Cooler Pump - The inverter
cooler pump maintains a cool environment for the hybrid battery to operate
properly. Without the cooler pump working properly, the battery might overheat
and malfunction. Thus, if the inverter cooler pump is not working properly,
inspect for damages and replace it now!
- Hybrid Battery - A failing
hybrid battery can be disastrous for the system. It triggers a whole lot of
issues related to MPG, the state of charge, sudden drop in battery bars etc. So,
in order to avoid them we advise you to change your hybrid battery as soon as
possible. Tune into Parts Avatar.
- Engine Control Module - ECM failures
and faults can be very difficult to find and resolve as these are very rare and
might require a complete reprogramming of the system to avoid wrong codes from
getting stored in the system, leading to misdiagnosis. Replace it now!
- Powertrain Control Module - Faulty PCM can
disrupt the normal functioning of the vehicle by affecting the transmission
system and the fuel delivery system. This will cause the system to store wrong
OBD error and thus can lead to misdiagnosis.
- Diagnostic Tools - Take the help of a professional mechanic to
diagnose OBD code error. Use high grade diagnostic tools to resolve this issue.

Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P0BA6
Here are some steps which you should
follow in order to diagnose this fault code:
- This is a general type of error code
which is diagnosed with the help of a scanner.
- The mechanic will insert a scanner
to diagnostic port of the vehicle and recover the codes and freeze frame data.
- If he happens to find any additional
error codes, he has to address them as well.
- Once it is done, he has to reset the
vehicle, and then test drive to see if the error code appears.
- If the error code does not return,
then there can be an erratic condition.
- But, if the error code returns, then
the mechanic has to check the Hybrid Battery Voltage Sense “V” Circuit.
- If the Hybrid Battery Voltage Sense
“V” Circuit is defective, then it has to be replaced.
- Also, the mechanic can check for any
sign of defects in the related parts, then he should quickly fix the issue.
- Then the mechanic has to check the
wires, connectors and other electrical components and quickly replace them if
he finds them to be damaged or defective.
- If the issues are not yet sorted
out, then the mechanic will use a digital voltmeter/ ohmmeter and connect it to
the vehicle.
- Once the circuit is inspected, he
will thoroughly check all the harness and repair them accordingly.
- In most cases, this error code can
arise mostly because of any shorted wires or faults in the Hybrid Battery
Voltage Sense “V” Circuit.
- Whenever the mechanic or a trained
professional, repairs any of the component like wires or connectors, he will
reset the code and test drive the vehicle again to see if the error code
appears again.
- This can actually help the mechanic to know if the problem is fixed.
Common Mistakes When Diagnosing The P0BA6 Code
- There can be
some issues in the high voltage battery connection
- Failure in the high voltage battery assembly
