P0795 - OBD Trouble Code
OBD Code P0795 - Pressure Control Solenoid C Malfunction
The PCM relies on the hydraulic pump pressure for shifting, it
also relies on factors such as speed of the vehicle, speed of the engine,
engine load, and throttle position. The PCM will set P0795 code if the pump
pressure is not in congruence with the what the PCM requests. The check engine
light will be illuminated. Mostly vehicles will have the check engine light
illuminated when the error is set, however some may require multiple failure
cycles before the light can come on.
Learn More About OBD Error Code P0795
When the fault with the electronic pressure control solenoid, or
the solenoid circuit is present the OBD P0795 code will be set by the
Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The hydraulic pressure used to actuate
shifting is regulated by the electronic pressure control solenoids. They also help in proper functioning of the
torque converter.
What causes this problem with the Pressure Control Solenoid C Malfunction?
- A poor electronic pressure control solenoid
- Failed transmission
- Blockages in the fluid passages of the transmission
- A failure of the PCM
- Dirty and contaminated transmission fluid/ low level of fluid

Symptoms Of OBD Error Code P0795
If you are facing OBD error code
P0795, then there are significant common symptoms that can be felt or observed.
We have worked out a list here to help you out in understanding this problem
better.
Common Symptoms
Here’s a list of few common symptoms you may come across:
- Inability to shift
- Failure of the torque converter
- Transmission is set to limp mode by
the PCM
- Poor fuel economy
- Harsh shifting
- Slipping of the transmission
- Transmission overheating
How To Correct P0795 Pressure Control Solenoid C Malfunction
It is very important to fix the fault code P0795. So here are some ways with which you can correct this issue:
- Replacement of all damaged or faulty
wiring, connectors, or components
- Repairing any leaks in the
transmission
- Replacing the hydraulic pump if it
is bad
- Replacing any faulty electronic
pressure control solenoids
- Replacing the PCM if it is bad
- Rebuilding the transmission if
contaminants like debris is detected in the transmission pan. Install a new
torque converter when rebuilding the transmission
However, if you face any issue then we have stocked a wide range of best priced Electronic Pressure Control Solenoid, Transmission, Transmission Fluid, Power Control Module and more to help you out in fixing your car.
Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P0795
If you want to easily diagnose this fault code, then all you have to do is to follow the steps which are mentioned below:
- Pull out the dipstick of the
transmission and investigate the fluid. it should be clean, if it smells burnt
or looks strange, then look for debris in the transmission pan. Debris present
are an indicator of a bigger problem, with the transmission and may require to
be rebuilt.
- The next inspection you have to run
is of the wiring, connectors and components, for any damage.
- Now hook the scanner to the vehicles
diagnostic and download all the codes and freeze frame the data and then clear
all the codes and take your vehicle of test drive.
- Make sure the transmission is filled
to a good level and fix any leaks.
- Start your vehicle and wait for
reaching normal operating temperature. Now you can test the system, and see if
the code returns.
- If the code is restored, it’s time
to hook up the manual pressure pump to the transmission and use the hydraulic
pressure diagram, and you can successfully test the pressure levels of the
hydraulic pump. Now compare the findings with those of the manufacturers and
see if they’re correct.
- After replacing the faulty hydraulic
pump, if the code is still faulty, and if after clearing the codes the code
still returns, you will have to make use of the DVOM or digital volt/ohm meter
and test the reference voltage as well as the ground signal of the electronic
pressure control solenoid.
- If either one of them is open then
you will have to check the continuity and resistance of all circuits that are
related. All related modules will have to be disconnected in order to avoid any
damage.
- If all else isn’t resolving the
problem, you will have to test the PCM for any faults. However, PCM failure is
rather rare, so be careful about diagnosing it.
- Now clear all the trouble codes and
test the system and see if the code still returns.
Common Mistakes When Diagnosing the P0795 Code
- Wrongly replacing the high-pressure
pump
- Overlooking malfunction of the wire
- Overlooking issues with electronic
pressure control solenoid
