Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P070E
Here are some steps which
you should follow in order to diagnose this fault code:
Start your diagnosis by
checking the transmission fluid level and also the transmission fluid level
sensor and all the related wirings. In case you come across any faulty wirings
or connection such as loose connectors, corroded connectors etc., then
repairing them is definitely a good idea. Also, do refer to the technical
service bulletin for information regarding the related issues. In case you do
not find anything then you will need to conduct a step by step inspection of
your transmission system. You can also refer to the manufacturer’s diagnostic
flow chart in order to test the system efficiently.
Checking the wiring system
To start with, we strongly
recommend you to inspect the relating wirings before you commence further. Also
refer to the factory wiring diagrams in order to understand what wires are
what.
Checking the reference voltage
You will also need to
check the reference voltage side of the circuit while keeping the ignition on.
After this you will need to use a digital voltmeter to check the PCM reference
voltage which should be somewhere between 5 to 12 volts. To be able to do this
you will have to connect the negative meter lead to ground and connect the
negative meter lead to ground and the positive meter lead to the sensor B+ terminal
on harness side of the connector. In case you come across out of limit (OL)
condition then there might be an open circuit between the PCM and the sensor
that you will need to repair after locating it. There will exist continuity if
the meter reads numeric value. In a situation where everything is good so far,
you will need to check for the power coming out of the PCM. In order to do so
you will have firstly turn on the ignition and set the meter to DC volts.
Checking ground side of the voltage
In order to check the
ground side of the voltage you will have to connect the reference voltage
terminal on the PCM to the positive meter lead and ground to the negative lead.
In case you come across no reference voltage from the PCM, then in that case
your PCM is at fault. But the chances of the PCM going bad is quite rare, so we
recommend you to do a double check. Next, with the ignition off check the
ground side of the circuit for continuity by using a digital multimeter set to
ohms. To do so connect the meter between the chassis ground and transmission
fluid level sensor ground terminal. There will be an open circuit between the
PCM and the sensor if you happen to come across the out of limit reading.
Check the Sensor
Now, if everything seems
to be fine then it the sensor that is faulty. So, checking it is next on our
list. Turn off the ignition and set your multimeter to read ohms. Lastly,
remove the transmission fluid level sensor connector and connect the meter to
the sensor terminals. The sensor will be open internally of the meter reads out
of limits (0L), you should definitely replace it in this case.
