Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P0582
Below are three simple steps to
diagnose this code:
Step
1 - Open the hood and take a look at
the cruise control system. Trace back the vacuum line and note where it’s going
and what it controls. If you notice that it’s going directly to a vacuum
solenoid, then thoroughly inspect for physical damage of all the vacuum lines,
solenoids and cruise control servos. Repair or replace any damaged parts
discovered before proceeding further with diagnosis. Imp: At the time of
inspecting the cruise control servos, ensure you verify the cable is not
seized. A seized cable can cause electrical values to go haywire.
Step
2 - If the cruise control vacuum solenoid
is found, verify its electrical values. This is done to rule out any potential
of an internal fault. You can refer your vehicle’s service manual to get the
exact values and procedures to do this. You can find diagrams on the firewall,
fender wells, intake manifolds etc. hence, double check that you’re working
with the right solenoid before proceeding to take any action. Replace the
solenoid if the noted values aren’t in sync with the manufacturers, clear the
engine light and test drive the system.
Step
3 - If at all you used a vacuum gauge
even once, it’s suggested to monitor the vacuum within the system. You can
refer your manual on where they are located, it’s important to acquire the
vacuum form specific ports off the systems. Typically, with correct ignition
timing; 50-55 kPa should be the vacuum reading. Refer your vehicles manual to
confirm this.
