OBD Code P02C4 - Cylinder 11 Injector Restricted

<<See All OBD Codes

Is your vehicle’s Check Engine Light illuminated? Are you experiencing sudden decrease in engine power and acceleration? Is there a drop in the fuel economy with increased level of emissions? All these indicate problem with the fuel delivery system and the Powertrain Control Module, thus flashing OBD Code P02C4 error.

Learn More About OBD Error Code P02C4

The P02C4 code specifies the problem related to the fuel injection system which when is not able to inject the right about of fuel to the engine, is sensed by the PCM, which in turn flashes this OBD code. Data from the O2 sensor tells about the lean condition of the exhaust and the position of the camshaft and the crankshaft tells about the problem with the fuel injector. Fuel, also has to go through numerous filters, pumps, injectors, lines, connections etc. to finally be delivered to the engine, so as you can imagine, there are a lot of possibilities here. Even small fuel leaks usually provide you with a smell strong enough to notice so keep that in mind.

What causes this problem with the Cylinder 11 - Injector Restricted?

  • The fuel injector can be defective or clogged
  • Problem of open or shorted fuel injector circuit
  • Defaults in the oxygen sensor
  • Powertrain control module programming error
  • Mass air flow or manifold air pressure sensor failure

Replace/Repair These Parts To Fix OBD Code P02C4

  1. Fuel Injector - Everything is fine with the Fuel Injector and still OBD code P02C4 flashing? Then there is definitely some fault with the Fuel Injector. Get it checked and replace if needed.
  2. Fuel Pump - Fuel Pump is an important car part which should never be neglected. May be there is some fault in it due to which P02C4 code may start flashing.
  3. Oxygen Sensor - A faulty Oxygen Sensor can be troublesome. You can always rely on us as we have best auto parts for our customers.
  4. Manifold Air Pressure (MAP) sensor - If everything is alright with fuel pump, then there is surely some defect in Manifold Air Pressure (MAP) sensor. Get it replaced before the situation gets worse.
  5. Powertrain Control Module - P02C4 code can display due to some issues with the Powertrain Control Module. So, it is very important to replace the Powertrain Control Module with us at equitable prices.

Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P02C4

If you find out that MAF or MAP related codes present, diagnose and repair those before you start attempting to diagnose this P02C4 code.

You must begin your diagnosis with a general inspection of the fuel injection rail area. You must carefully inspect the outside for signs of corrosion and leakage. If there is heavy corrosion on the exterior of the fuel injector, or if it is leaking, suspect that it has failed.

If you find out that there are no obvious mechanical issues in the engine bay, there are several tools that will be required for an accurate diagnosis:

  1. A digital volt/ohmmeter
  2. A diagnostic scanner
  3. An automotive stethoscope
  4. A reliable vehicle information source
  • The fuel pressure gauge should be used to test fuel pressure and compare it with manufacturer’s specifications. If fuel pressure is within specs, then you should proceed to Step 2. If fuel pressure is below minimum specifications, use the DVOM to test fuel pump relay and fuel pump voltage. If the fuel pump is being supplied with an acceptable level of voltage which is usually battery voltage, then you must remove the fuel filter and see if it is clogged with debris. If the filter is clogged, it should be replaced. If the filter is not clogged, then the fuel pump should be suspected for failure
  • You should then access the injector connector and use the DVOM to test for injector voltage and a ground pulse. If no voltage is discovered at the injector connector, proceed to Step 3. If voltage and a ground pulse are present, reconnect the injector and use a stethoscope (or some other listening device) and listen to it with the engine running. An audible clicking sound should be repeated in regular intervals. If the sound is not present, or if it is intermittent, suspect that the injector for the cylinder. In both the conditions fuel injector should be replaced
  • There are a lot of modern fuel injection systems which provide a constant supply of battery voltage to each fuel injector, with the powertrain control module supplying a ground pulse at the appropriate instant, to complete the circuit and result in a spray of fuel to the cylinder. Use the DVOM to test system fuses and relays for battery voltage. Replace fuses or relays as needed. The system fuses should be tested with the circuit under load
  • If all system fuses and relays are working in a perfect condition and there is no voltage present, then you can always use your vehicle information source to trace the circuit. Chances are that it will take you to the ignition switch or fuel injection module. You must do the circuit repairs as per the requirement

Common Mistakes When Diagnosing The P02C4 Code

  • There can be fuel injector failure
  • Powertrain control module might fail
  • Some wiring issues
