Install a scan tool into the diagnostic link connector (DLC) port of the car and scans for any codes stored in the ECM. Clears all codes and performs a road test to verify the malfunction (if the vehicle can be driven).

• Check for any leaks and address them immediately. This causes lower than desired fuel pressures in any closed system. Rusted lines, fuel filter gaskets, deteriorated O-rings, etc. all cause fuel leaks.
• Next, examine the low fuel pressure system's filter which may be located on the frame rail or close to the fuel tank. Make sure you follow proper bleeding and filter replacement procedures as introducing air into a diesel fuel system can be a tricky problem to rectify. • Check for wiring and connections in relation to the injector circuit and repair or replace it as necessary. Recheck the output voltage and resistance reading from the injector circuit to confirm it is working properly.
• Diagnose code as per the manufacturer's pinpoint test to verify the pump voltage supply and circuits are good to prevent replacing a good injection pump.
• Tests the battery to make sure it does not fall below 8 volts during cranking or vehicle operation
• Check for PCM/ECM faults, if all other components work perfect. Although it is rare for the PCM to be faulty, but replace or reprogram as required.
