The P0184 can be defined as fuel temperature sensor ‘A’ circuit intermittent. The fuel temperature sensor would tell the engine control module the temperature of the fuel. If the powertrain control module would detect an implausible signal from the fuel temperature sensor, then the P0184 code would be set by the powertrain control module.

It is the fuel tank temperature sensor which is used to detect the fuel temperature inside the fuel tank. The sensor would then modify the voltage signal from the engine control module.
