The fault code P0179 can be defined as fuel composition sensor circuit high input. This would mean that abnormally high voltage is detected by the powertrain control module from the fuel composition sensor or circuit. This sensor is designed in such a way it can detect fuel contamination and provide an accurate reading of the fuel temperature for the powertrain control module.

There are a number of functions performed by the engine, out of which one is to detect the input signal from the fuel composition sensor which would indicate the presence of non-gasoline at a volume which is higher than 10%.

• The codes should be scanned and documents the freeze frame data, and after that the codes should be cleared to verify if the code returns or not

Common Mistakes When Diagnosing The P0179 Code
