Always replace in pairs they say, and these installed fine in the back of my 2001 Volkswagen Beetle. The main concern, though, was that the boxes were different and one didn't have the manufacturer's name on it, which made me suspicious. Despite that, they were identical, and when I put them on my car, I did notice a slight difference in ride quality between the shocks on each side, but it's not too bad. They might wear out fast since I live on a dirt road. They're okay, but next time I might opt for something a bit higher quality.

Gave it 3 stars because it was the wrong fit for my 2009 VW Jetta. The product seemed okay, but unusable for me. Both Monroe's website and Parts Avatar's fitment tool incorrectly stated that the Monro-matic #32403 would fit my car. The piston rod was too thick, and the lower bushing's hole was too small for the mounting bolt. Also, the rod's thread seemed standard, not metric. Monroe confirmed it's not for a 2009 VW Jetta. The right part is #5611.
