Kia Rondo Wheel Lug Nuts & Bolts
About Wheel Lug Nuts & Bolts
A wheel lug nuts and bolts or wheel nut are fasteners found on automobiles, trucks, and other large vehicles using rubber tires to secure a vehicle's wheel. A lug nut is a nut fastener with one rounded or conical (tapered) end, used to secure steel and aluminum wheels through threaded wheel studs and thereby to a vehicle's axles. The four types of lug nuts are cone seat, bulge cone seat, under hub cap, and spline drive, to match the position of the new wheel. Most cars come from the factory with either wheel studs or wheel bolts where some designs use lug bolts or wheel bolts instead of nuts, which screw into a tapped (threaded) hole in the wheel's hub or brake drum or brake disc. Wheel bolts use a threaded stem attached to a tapered head that matches the wheel insert are standard on many cars. The wheel bolt goes from the wheel, through the brake rotor, straight into the hub, locking everything in place. Instead of using a single piece that screws into the hub, wheel studs and lug nuts are differently designed where the studs are mounted into the hub and stick out beyond the brake rotor hat. The wheels are mounted using lug nuts, which are screwed onto the stud. The advantage of wheel studs over wheel bolts is easy for tire replacement, to hold when wheel and tire lifted on studs, to locate the assembly during tire change rather than holding up the wheel and tire while lining up the holes to insert a bolt. Failure to use the proper lugs nuts or wheel bolts may cause the vehicle to vibrate and could cause them to loosen over time. Some large vehicles are fitted with loose wheel nut indicators to detect loose lug nuts that spin with the nut so that it can be detected with a visual inspection.
What is the purpose of Wheel Lug Nuts & Bolts?
Usually, a set of lug nuts is used to connect a wheel to threaded wheel studs, and thus to axles of a vehicle. Many designs, instead of nuts, use lug bolts or wheel bolts that fit into a tapped (threaded) hole in the centre of the wheel or brake drum or brake disc.
How Wheel Lug Nuts & Bolts Works?
Wheel studs are the threaded fasteners which hold many automobiles on their wheels. They are mounted directly onto the vehicle hub semi-permanently, usually via the brake drum or brake disc. Wheel bolts use a threaded stem fixed to a tapered head that matches the insert of the wheel. The bolt goes straight into the hub from the wheel, via the brake rotor, locking everything in place.
