Ford Mustang Exhaust Header
About exhaust header
Exhaust manifolds are typically simple cast iron or steel machines that extract the gas from several cylinders and send it to the exhaust. You can find many tubular exhaust manifolds called headers for many aftermarket engines.
What is the purpose of exhaust header?
The exhaust header aims to reduce the exhaust gas back pressure to improve engine efficiency. It is usually made of steel or mild steel.
How exhaust header works?
Headers are a bolt-on component which can be installed to improve your engine performance. The purpose of the headers is to promote the engine's push of exhaust gas out of the cylinder. It functions by removing the manifold back pressure. Instead of sharing a common manifold, each cylinder gets their own exhaust pipes. The different pipes are cut and bent to the same length as each other, ensuring that each cylinder exhaust emissions enter the collector equally apart so that the collector's shared rear pressure of cylinders is not generated.
