Chevrolet Tracker Oil Filter
About oil filter
Oil filters are designed to remove the harmful pollutants from fuel oil, transmission oil, lubricating oil or hydraulic oil with care. The oil filters may be used in different hydraulic machinery. It primarily serves on- and off-road motor vehicles, light aircraft, and several naval vessels in the internal-combustion engines. Many vehicle hydraulic systems used in automatic transmissions, gas turbine engines such as jet aircraft and power steering are fitted with an oil filter, as well. Oil processing, transport and recycling facilities often include filters in the manufacturing process, in addition to the basic functions.
What is the purpose of oil filter?
An oil filter significantly helps eliminate the harmful chemicals from the oil on the car engine. Those contaminants accumulate over time if left unchecked. It is imperative to use an Oil filter as if the oil is left unfiltered for a longer period of time, it becomes saturated with tiny, hard particles that damage the engine's surface, thus reducing its shelf life.
How oil filter works?
The filter is made from a metal can with a sealing gasket which allows it to be held tightly against the mating surface of the engine. By moving heat it helps to cool the engine and seals the gap between the piston rings and the cylinder walls. The contaminants are removed from here, and the soot particles suspended. Chemical pollutants include airborne fungi and bacteria, while toxic ones contain dust that is drawn into the engine as it operates.
