Chevrolet Equinox Oil Filter
About oil filter
Oil filters are properly sealed off from motor oil, transmission oil, lubricating oil, or hydraulic oil for the elimination of harmful contaminants. For different hydraulic devices, oil filters may be used. In domestic engines, it is used primarily by motor vehicles and off-road, light aircraft, and many naval vessels. Other hydraulic vehicle systems, such as jet aircraft and power steering in automatic transmission systems, are fitted with oil filters too. Oil processing, transport, and recycling facilities often require filters, as well as essential functions in the manufacturing process.
What is the purpose of oil filter?
An oil filter significantly helps eliminate the harmful pollutants from the oil from the car engine. Those pollutants accumulate over time when left unchecked. It is imperative to use an oil filter because if the oil is left unfiltered for a longer period of time, it becomes saturated with small, hard particles that harm the engine's surface, thereby reducing its shelf-life.
How oil filter works?
The filter is made from a metal can with a sealing gasket that allows it to hold tightly against the mating surface of the engine. It helps by transmitting heat to cool the engine and seals the gap between the piston rings and cylinder walls. The pollutants are removed from here and the soot particles are released from there. Chemical pollutants include airborne fungi and bacteria, while synthetic ones include dust that is drawn into the engine when running.
