A Mass Air Flow sensor, measures the density of air flowing into the engine. It is one of the most vital injection sensors in the system and is installed in between the engine's air filter and intake manifold. After calculations, it transmits this calculated information to the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) of the car, which then decides the quantity of fuel to be sent to maintain the correct air/fuel ratio for optimum engine run. As the density varies with temperature, altitude and induction force, calculating the air density becomes very necessary to send the appropriate amount of fuel into the combustion chamber.

How New Air Mass Sensor Works?
The type of hot wire is the most commonly used type of MAF sensor in automobiles. The sensor consists of a heating resistor, temperature sensor for intake air, and a control circuit. A portion of intake air is sent to the measurement area of the hot-wire where the intake volume is measured. The hot wire is in response to temperature changes. The resistance shift and current flow is converted to a proportional signal and then forwarded into the ECU. The ECU then does the job of controlling the ratio of air fuel.
