SKF offers precise output shaft seals for all types of transmissions. SKF Shaft Seals are required for many drive-line units' input and output shafts, including transmissions, transfer cases, rear-drive modules, power transfer units, and hybrid and E-drive units. Since leakage and contaminants are the leading causes of seal failure, fluid retention and the exclusion of external pollutants are critical problems. Exclusion features are offered, such as radial and axial dirt lips and felt exclusion rings. Traditional shaft seals with a garter spring, seals with a low friction elastomer sealing lip, and PTFE sealing lips are all readily available from SKF. The application and the operating conditions determine the option to use. Cassette designs are provided to deal with high levels of contamination. Additional design elements and integrated modular solutions are offered to permit correct operation under substantial shaft run-out and misalignment.
