P0BFE - OBD Trouble Code
OBD Code P0BFE - Drive Motor "B" Phase U -V -W Current Sensor Correlation
Improper
functioning of the high voltage system is commonly known as the drive motor
"B" phase U-V-W current sensor correlation. The drive motor generator
power inverter control module comprises of 2 motor control modules and hybrid
powertrain control module. As the two motor control modules are knotted
together, the current which flows through the module will also remain the same.
The P0BFE error will be set, if the same current does not flow and the high
voltage system will be disconnected.
Learn More About OBD Error Code P0BFE
A
rotating magnetic shield will be created in the MG2 as the three-phases
alternating current will flow through the 3 phase windings of the stator coil.
In accordance with the rotating position and speed of the rotor, the system
will look after the rotation of the magnetic field. Finally, the permanent
magnets which are present in the rotor will be pulled in the direction of
rotation, producing torque and the produced torque will remain proportional to
the amount of current. The speed of MG2 will be controlled by the system by
creating the frequency of the alternating current. Also, the system will
operate the magnetic field and the angle of the rotor magnets just to produce
more torque in a proper manner at high speed.
What
causes this problem with Drive Motor "B" Phase U-V-W Current Sensor
Correlation?
- The
hybrid vehicle motor assembly might be defective.
- There might be an opening in the hybrid vehicle motor assembly or the circuit might be shorted.
- The
electrical connection of the hybrid vehicle motor assembly circuit might appear
to be weak.
Replace/Repair These Parts To Fix OBD Code P0BFE
- Hybrid Vehicle Motor Assembly -
Visually inspect for any possible damages in the hybrid vehicle motor
assembly and replace it as soon as possible if there are any defects.
- Hybrid Vehicle Motor Assembly Harness -
Check the hybrid vehicle motor assembly harness if it is damaged. If you
find it to be faulty replace it immediately and avoid the P0BFE error.
- Engine Control Module -
Performance issue may arise in your vehicle if the ECM is defective.
Replace the defective ECM by shopping for a new one from PartsAvatar.
- Powertrain Control Module - Illumination of the check engine light is a common symptom of faulty PCM. Change it immediately.

Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P0BFE
It
is essential to diagnose this fault code. Here are some steps which a mechanic
should follow for diagnosing the problem that triggered a P0BFE code to be
stored:
- If
the PCM finds out unusual high exhaust temperature, pressure and or noxious gas
concentration, the exhaust after-treatment fuel injector will be activated and
the reductant compound will be sprayed into the diesel particulate filter or
catalytic converter.
- As
there are many circuits involved, it is sometimes best to leave it to the
professionals as it is not like other diagnostic trouble codes.
- If
the fluid has burnt smell, remove the transmission pan and see if there are any
debris or dust particles.
- Some
common reasons which cause a low pump pressure can be a blocked hydraulic
passage, faulty pump, defective shift solenoid or even a broken electronic
pressure regulator.
- As
you try to start the engine, if you hear a clicking noise and if the engine
does not crank, then it means that the battery is faulty like discharged or low
battery or the battery cables are free or eroded.
- But
if you hear the engine cranking noise as you start the vehicle, but if it fails
to start, then there can be an issue with the ignition or fuel.
- Other
issues where the engine fails to start can be the fuel or ignition. Other
common reasons an engine may fail to start include a failure of the starter
motor relay, a clogged fuel filter, a defective fuel pump or an ignition switch
failure.
- You
must not change the component or parts with respect to P0BFE error code alone.
- With respect to the P0BFE error code, you must check for the correct operation of the VCT solenoid. If you come across a sticking or stuck VCT solenoid which may have caused due to contamination, then refer to the vehicle specific repair manual to carry out the component test for the VCT unit.
Common
Mistakes When Diagnosing the P0BFE Code
- The
faulty high inverter control module
- Troublesome
electrical wires.
- Drive
motor generator assembly might be faulty.
