The trouble code P0ABE can be elucidated as Hybrid Battery Pack Voltage Sense “A” Circuit Intermittent/Erratic. There is a current sensor mounted to the negative battery cable in the high voltage battery pack. This sensor would inform the battery control module if the battery pack is being charged or discharged. Now if a malfunction would be detected by the battery control module in the Hybrid Battery Pack Current Sensor "A" Circuit, then it would set the P0ABE fault code.

The battery current sensor is mounted on the positive cable side of the HV battery assembly which would detect the amperage that would flow into the HV battery. The battery smart unit would input a voltage which varies between 0 and 5 V in proportion to the amperage, into the IB terminal from the battery current sensor. If there is an output voltage of the battery current sensor that is below 2.5 V, then it would indicate that the HV battery is being discharged, and when it would be above 2.5 V, then it would indicate that the HV battery is being charged.
