P0AB1 - OBD Trouble Code
OBD Code P0AB1 - Hybrid Battery Pack Air Temperature Sensor "B" Circuit
P0AB1 error code arises
due to the failure of the high voltage control module which is also generally
known as the hybrid battery pack air temperature sensor "B" circuit.
The battery pack air temperature sensor will inform the high voltage control
module about the temperature of the ambient air which is available in and around
the hybrid battery pack. If an incorrect signal is found from the hybrid
battery pack air temperature sensor, the high voltage control module will
identify it and the error will be set. Most vehicles have this temperature
sensor as a part of the battery pack assembly
Learn More About OBD Error Code P0AB1
The HV battery assembly
has the intake air temperature. With the change in values, the value of
resistance will change in the intake air temperature. Both the intake air
temperature sensor and battery temperature sensor have the same
characteristics. In order to adjust the air flow speed of the battery blower assembly,
the signal from the intake air temperature sensor is used by the battery ECU.
What causes this problem with the Hybrid Battery
Pack Air Temperature Sensor "B" Circuit?
- Damaged HV battery
assembly.
- There might be an
opening or the HV battery assembly harness might have a short circuit.
- The electrical
connection of the HV battery assembly circuit might be weak.
- Battery ECU might be
damaged.
Replace/Repair These Parts To Fix OBD Code P0AB1
- Engine Control
Module - The engine performance will be poor
and there will be a drop in fuel economy if the engine control module malfunctions.
Replace it immediately.
- Powertrain
Control Module - The engine will fail to start
or the fuel economy will be poor if the powertrain control module is faulty.
Get them replaced by getting a new one from PartsAvatar as soon as possible.
- HV Battery
Assembly - Replacing the defective HV battery
assembly will help your vehicle to function normally.
- Hybrid Battery
Pack - A damaged hybrid battery pack will give
rise to strange noises in the engine. In this situation, it’s always best to
replace the damaged hybrid battery pack.
- Battery - The swelling of the battery
is a sign of damaged or defective battery. Replace it as soon as possible to
avoid the P0AB1 error.

Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P0AB1
It is essential to
diagnose this fault code. Here are some steps which a mechanic should follow
for diagnosing the problem that triggered a P0AB1 code to be stored:
- This is a general type
of trouble code, where the mechanic will use a scanner to carefully look for any
stored error code.
- He will then connect the
scanner to the diagnostic port of the vehicle and recover all stored codes and
freeze frame data as it can help him with further diagnosis.
- For this P0AB1 error
code, initially, the mechanic will carefully inspect the HV battery/HV battery
harness.
- Any possible damages
have to be fixed immediately.
- As a next step, the
mechanic will visually examine the components like battery cables, battery
control module and battery current sensor.
- If any of these
components are damaged, they will be replaced immediately by the mechanic.
- Finally, the mechanic
will check for any possible faults in the engine control module or powertrain
control module and replace them quickly if there are damaged.
- After every of the
diagnostic procedure is carefully done, the mechanic will reset the error code
and then test drive the vehicle again.
- This will help him to know if the error code in the vehicle still occurs and also, helps him to locate the area as to where the fault occurred
Common Mistakes When Diagnosing the P0AB1 Code
- High voltage battery
assembly might be defective.
- Problem with the
electrical wires.
- The level of engine oil
seems to be low.
- High voltage control
module might be defective.
