P0800 OBD Error Code: Problem & Solutions

Here are some steps which you should follow in order to diagnose this P0800 fault code:

• Begin the diagnosis by checking for clean fluid and the transfer case is filled with correct level liquid. If the level is less, check for leaks and fix the issue. Refill them with clean liquid and proceed further.
• To proceed for further diagnosis, you will need a diagnostic scanner, a digital volt/ohmmeter (DVOM), and a source of vehicle specific diagnostic info. Locate the technical service bulletin with your vehicle’s source information which matches your vehicle’s make, model, year and the size of engine, stored codes and other causes. Proceed with the first diagnosis once transfer case is filled with the correct liquid.
• Connect the scanner and recover the codes and freeze frame data. Write down this information and test drive the vehicle unless and until the code is reset. The code will be irregular, if the PCM enters readiness mode which is tough to diagnose. You have to worsen this condition before proceeding for further diagnosis.
• Once the code is reset, you have to search for vehicle source of information for diagnostic flow-charts, connector face views, and component testing measures.
• Test the voltage and ground circuit with a DVOM at the TCCS controller. If both are found, then check the controller output. Checking for similar symptoms in the sensors. If any of these component fail to abide as per specification, then they are said to be defective.
• If no parts have failed, then use DVOM to check circuits. Use the voltage drop check method as it works well. Before you test, separate the controllers and proceed further.
