Guide To P066E OBD Error Code Solutions
OBD Code P066E - Cylinder 3 Glow Plug Control Circuit Low
When glow plug does indicate that its control
circuit is low? Where is a glow plug
used? In order to preheat the cylinder
before the engine starts glow plug is used. If the glow plugs for cylinder 1
does not function correctly, P066E code will be set by PCM.
Learn More About OBD Error Code P066E
High compression is used by diesel connection to
start piston movement. Increase cylinder temperature as there is no spark
involved to increase compression. The glow plug for separate cylinder is
threaded to the cylinder head. Through glow plug element battery voltage is
applied to the glow plug timer. If the voltage is correct, it will be bright
red and helps in increasing cylinder temperature. Voltage will be stopped once
it reaches the level and the glow plug comes to normal state.
What causes this problem with the Cylinder 3 Glow Plug Control Circuit Low?
- Glow plugs are poor.
- Opening or shorted glow plug control circuit.
- Glow plug connector is broken.
- Glow plug timer is damaged.
Replace/Repair These Parts To Fix OBD Code P066E

Module -
Replacing your faulty PCM is one of the best choices to get rid of this error
code.
- Engine Control
Module - A
damaged or broken ECM can be one of the common causes of OBD II error.
- Glow Plug - Does your glow plug glows less than bright red? Then try
considering to replace with the right replacement part from Parts Avatar.
- Glow Plug Relay - A faulty or loose glow plug relay has to be fixed to avoid
disturbance in the system.

Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P066E
If you want to easily diagnose this fault code,
then all you have to do is to follow the steps which are mentioned below
- You will need few components to diagnose P066E
code like a diagnostic scanner, a reliable source of vehicle information, and a
DVOM. Search the accurate TSB that matches the vehicle model, make and code
stored in order to properly diagnose.
- Also gather information from vehicle source like
diagnostic flowcharts, wiring diagrams, connector face views, connector pinout
charts, component locations, and module testing procedures to diagnose P066E.
- Join the scanner to the diagnostic port once you
check the glow plug/control wiring/ connectors. Recover all codes and retrieve
freeze frame data. Test drive to see if code appear. Either the PCM will enter
readiness mode or the code will reset. You have to worsen the condition to
diagnose properly.
- A good idea is to apply voltage by removing the
glow plugs. If it glows bright red, there is no problem. If not, test it with
DVOM. Make sure not to burn self while testing.
- If the glow plugs are good, test the battery
voltage with the help of scanner. If there is no voltage, check the glow plug
timer/ controller. It’s always good to test the fuses and relays with the
loaded circuits. The circuits will appear functional but will lead to wrong
path.
- Use the DVOM to test output voltage if the fuses
and relay function normally. There can be an open or shorted circuit if the
voltage is detected. This can be easily replaced.
- Never make wrong assumption that P066e error is
cause by glow plug. At times a variation in control circuit can also cause this
error code.
- Another common mistake can be trying to diagnose
the wrong cylinder. Before you proceed, make sure you diagnose the right
cylinder.
Common Mistakes When Diagnosing the P066E Code
- Failed glow plug control module.
- Failed glow plug.
- Failed glow plug relay.
- Failed glow plug relay harness.
