• You will need few components to diagnose P066E code like a diagnostic scanner, a reliable source of vehicle information, and a DVOM. Search the accurate TSB that matches the vehicle model, make and code stored in order to properly diagnose.
• Also gather information from vehicle source like diagnostic flowcharts, wiring diagrams, connector face views, connector pinout charts, component locations, and module testing procedures to diagnose P066E.
• Join the scanner to the diagnostic port once you check the glow plug/control wiring/ connectors. Recover all codes and retrieve freeze frame data. Test drive to see if code appear. Either the PCM will enter readiness mode or the code will reset. You have to worsen the condition to diagnose properly.
• A good idea is to apply voltage by removing the glow plugs. If it glows bright red, there is no problem. If not, test it with DVOM. Make sure not to burn self while testing.
• If the glow plugs are good, test the battery voltage with the help of scanner. If there is no voltage, check the glow plug timer/ controller. It’s always good to test the fuses and relays with the loaded circuits. The circuits will appear functional but will lead to wrong path.
• Use the DVOM to test output voltage if the fuses and relay function normally. There can be an open or shorted circuit if the voltage is detected. This can be easily replaced.
• Never make wrong assumption that P066e error is cause by glow plug. At times a variation in control circuit can also cause this error code.
