Guide To P062E OBD Error Code Solutions
OBD Code P062E - Fuel Injector Driver Circuit Performance Bank 2
The
PCM of any modern vehicle is responsible for managing the fuel injector
operation. In situations when the PCM has lost control over the fuel injector
due to an internal fault in the PCM, then the error code P062E is set.
Learn More About OBD Error Code P062E
The
question is, how does the PCM manage the fuel injector? Well, it simply
controls the injector timing and pulse width. This is done by applying ground
pulse to the circuit at the right time. While the vehicle ignition is on,
there’s constant supply of battery voltage to the circuit. It is this, that
sets precise spray of fuels from the pressurized fuel injector. Each cylinder
is subjected to this in a sequential fashion.
What causes this problem with
the Fuel Injector Driver Circuit Performance Bank 2?
- Open
or shorted wiring or connector found in the bank 1 of injector driver circuit
- Malfunctioning
fuel injector
- Poor
PCM or EFI controller
- Error
in Controller programming

Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P062E
It is essential to diagnose this
fault code. Here are some steps which a mechanic should follow for diagnosing
the problem that triggered a P062E code to be stored:
- First gather all the mandatory requirements for
the diagnosis. You will need a diagnostic scanner, a DVOM (digital volt/ohmmeter) an
oscilloscope, and your vehicles technical service bulletin TSB. The
Oscilloscope is crucial as it’s the only way you can monitor the injector
function and conclude diagnosis.
- Now that you have all the tools, connect the
scanner and retrieve all the stored codes and freeze-frame them. Write them
down for future reference, clear the codes now and take your car for a
test-drive. Wait till the PCM is in readiness mode or the code is reset.
- You can rule out an intermittent condition, if
the PCM enters readiness mode but there’s no code reset. However, if it takes
too much time, then you may have to wait for the condition to worsen before any
accurate diagnosis can be drawn.
- If you note that the code was immediately set, then
you will have to perform a visual inspection. This inspection will be of all
the wires and connectors, depending on their condition repair or replace them.
Never attempt to patch a fuel injector wiring harness, it can cause extensive
damage to the PCM. Doing that can result in the PCM receiving false fuel
injector driver confirmation signal and all kinds of errors codes can also be
stored.
- As you continue your inspection you may not find
any issues with the connectors or wires, if they appear to be good enough for
functional use, then the next step would be to use the oscilloscope to test
each injector individually. This is where your vehicle information source will
come into play, check the flow charts, wiring diagrams, connector face views
etc. and read the corresponding testing procedures for your specific vehicle
model. Read the results that come after connecting the oscilloscope test leads.
Replace the defective fuel injectors if necessary, otherwise replace them if
the damage is too extensive to be repaired. However, if you notice no anomalies
then move on to the next step of diagnosis.
- Disconnect all the controllers from the injector driver circuit once you have tested the fuel injectors. Use the DVOM to test the all the system circuits, and replace any wiring and connectors as needed. If upon all this investigation you still see no fault with the system circuitry then it’s most likely a controller failure or controller programming error. This fuel injector driver/controller is usually integrated into the PCM.
Common Mistakes When Diagnosing the P062E Code
- Failed Fuel injection control module (FICM)
- Failure of Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
- Notable wiring issue
