P014B - OBD Trouble Code
OBD Code P014B - O2 Sensor Delayed Response - Lean To Rich (Bank 2 Sensor 2)
Improper
fuel-air ratios can lead to loss of engine power, loss of acceleration and
stalling as well as rough idle problems along with check engine light
illuminating. This can be due to P014B error indicating problem with oxygen
sensor.
OBD-II
Code Decreased engine performance is defined as an O2 Sensor Delayed Response -
Lean to Rich
Learn More About OBD Error Code P014B
OBD
Code P014B is stored when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a delayed
response time from the downstream (or post catalytic converter) oxygen (O2)
sensor or circuit for engine bank two. Bank 2 specifies the bank of the engine
which does not contain the #1 cylinder.
The
voltage signal from the O2 sensor is low when more oxygen is present in the
exhaust (lean condition) and is higher when less oxygen is present in the
exhaust (rich condition). The PCM uses this data to optimize fuel delivery and
ignition timing strategy and to also monitor catalytic converter efficiency to
keep a check on emissions.
What causes the problem of O2
Sensor Delayed Response - Lean to Rich (B2 S2)?
- Failure
of Bank 2 Sensor 2
- O2
Sensor wiring open/short/damaged
- Open
circuit inside Oxygen Sensor or open/ground wires to Bank 2 Sensor 2
- Corroded
or Broken Exhaust System ground strap
- Rare
ECU (Engine Control Unit) failure
- PCM/ECM
or Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit wiring failed
Replace/Repair These Parts To Fix OBD Code P014B
- Powertrain Control
Module -
P014B error code also relates to problems with the powertrain which can store
and flash wrong error code. Find all the Powertrain related parts with us.
- Oxygen Sensor Cable - Faulty or damaged cables
can cause the sensor to work inefficiently and thus can cause OBD code P014B to
store in PCM
- Exhaust Manifold - Faulty exhaust manifold
causes loss of acceleration, power and fuel economy. Thus, replace them now!
- Ambient Air
Temperature Sensor -
Faulty sensor can affect the fuel economy, and can cause engine overheating.
Thus, replace faulty sensors now!
- Catalytic Converter - Excessive amounts of
unburned gas caused by a misfiring spark plug or a leaky exhaust valve can
cause overheating of catalytic converter. Replace your old catalytic converter
now!
- Exhaust System - Replace faulty exhaust systems and
parts as they can be a major reason for flashing of this error in the PCM.
- Mass Air Flow
Sensor -
Faulty MAF sensor can cause symptoms similar to low fuel pressure as from a
faulty fuel pump. Engine can become very hard to start and turn. Replace it
now!
- Throttle Position
Sensor -
Common signs of faulty TPS include rough engine idles and stalling with lack of
acceleration and engine power. Replace faulty TPS immediately.

Symptoms Of OBD Error Code P014B
OBD
code P014B error means that an O2 sensor becomes slow or unresponsive for an
extended period of time, it can be categorized as severe error.
Symptoms
of this code may include:
Common Symptoms
- Affected
fuel efficiency
- Lack of
engine performance
- Check
Engine Light illumination
- Engine
stalling
- Reduced
acceleration and power
How To Correct P014B O2 Sensor Delayed Response - Lean to Rich (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P014B
- Take
the help of a qualified technician to use a scan tool and confirm whether P014B
is present.
- Find
and freeze frame data with the code. Then, clear the code.
- Take
the vehicle on a test drive under the same conditions.
- If the
code reappears, perform a visual inspection of the bank 2 sensor 2 and its
wiring. Also check the wiring on both oxygen sensors for damaged/broken wiring,
swapped connectors, or wiring shorted to ground or power.
- If the
wiring is okay, the sensor itself will be tested to confirm operation. Upstream
O2 sensor data should fluctuate regularly between 1-millivolt (.100-volts) and
9-millivolts (.900-olts), if the engine is running efficiently. If voltage
fluctuations are slower than expected, a P014B will be stored.
- If the
O2 Sensor is functioning properly, the technician must check the Engine Control
Unit for any faults and damages.
Common mistakes when
diagnosing the P014B code
Always
take professional help and follow the diagnosis instructions properly before
coming to a conclusion or simply replacing the sensor first.
- Replacing
PCM, without checking other components for faults
- Replacing
Heated Oxygen Sensor directly
- Not
inspecting faulty wiring and connections
