Error Code P0094: What It Means & What To Do?

OBD Code P0094 - Fuel System Small Leak Detected

<<See All OBD Codes

Is your vehicle’s Check Engine Light illuminated? Are you experiencing sudden decrease in engine power and acceleration? Is there a drop in the fuel economy with increased level of emissions? All these indicate problem with the fuel delivery system and the Powertrain Control Module, thus flashing OBD Code P0094 error.

OBD-II Code Decreased engine performance is defined as a Fuel System Leak Detected - Small Leak

Learn More About OBD Error Code P0094

The sensor provides the PCM Powertrain Control Module) with a voltage input signal. As fuel system pressure increases, the resistance level of the fuel pressure sensor decreases, allowing the voltage signal that is input to the PCM to increase accordingly. When fuel pressure decreases, resistance levels in the fuel pressure sensor increase, causing the voltage input signal to the PCM to decrease. If the fuel pressure sensor/s is operating normally, this cycle takes effect with each ignition cycle.

When the driver come across a stored code P0094, it generally means that the PCM has detected a significant decrease in fuel pressure. Fuel pressure specifications may vary from one manufacturer to another and the PCM is programmed to monitor fuel pressure according to these specifications.

What causes the problem of Fuel System Small Leak Detected - Small Leak?

  • Burnt, damaged, shorted, or damaged wiring and/or connectors
  • Damaged/Ruptured fuel lines; two common causes of steel fuel lines failing are rubbing, or chafing against engine components, and weaknesses induced by vibration in lines that are not properly secured
  • Damaged or split fuel rails
  • High pressure pumps component failure
  • High pressure fuel lines loose connection
  • Damaged return lines. Although the return pressure is only a fraction of the working pressure, the volume of fuel delivered by the pump is too small to compensate for the volume of fuel lost through a leak
  • Defective/faulty fuel pressure sensor or pressure regulator
  • Faulty/defective PCM

Replace/Repair These Parts To Fix OBD Code P0094

  1. Fuel Pump - Check for any fuel pump and component failure due to high pressure situations. Replace them immediately.
  2. Fuel Pressure Sensor - Inspect for any error due to faulty sensors and wirings related to it and replace as required. Buy new pressure sensor form us.
  3. Fuel Pressure Regulator - It is important to main a certain pressure and thus this component plays a very important role in it. Replace faulty regulators now.
  4. Fuel Injection - By pressurising and injecting the fuel, the system forces it into air that has been compressed to high pressure in the combustion chamber. This greatly improves the engine performance and thus damaged parts have to be replaced.
  5. Fuel Filters - Clogged/restricted fuel filters can reduce fuel supply and hamper the delivery system. Thus, replace if damaged. Buy quality fuel filter from us.
  6. Fuel Tank - Leaky fuel tank should be replaced at first instance to avoid fuel loss, reduced performance and risks of fires.
  7. Diagnostic Tools - Use professional diagnostic tools to detect and diagnose the OBD error problem. Buy best tools and equipment from us.

Symptoms Of OBD Error Code P0094

The symptoms of code P0094 can appear suddenly, and may be dramatic in some cases.

Common Symptoms

  • Sudden loss of power and the engine entering ‘limp mode’
  • Loss of acceleration, and the transmission may refuse to shift
  • Engine shut off unexpectedly, with the loss of power steering and vacuum assistance for the brakes
  • Visible smoke from under the hood
  • Engine misfires and failed start-ups
  • The strong smell of diesel fuel

How To Correct P0094 Fuel System Small Leak Detected

  • Fuel tank replacement
  • Fuel pump replacement
  • Fuel filter replacement
  • Fuel injectors replacement
  • Fuel injector pump replacement
  • Fuel pressure regulator replacement
  • Fuel hose or Fuel line replacement
  • Fuel pressure sensor replacement
  • Repairing or replacing wiring associated with the fuel pressure sensor

Easy Diagnosis Of Engine Error OBD Code P0094

  • Inspects the fuel system for leaks and repairs any leaks found. If no leaks are found in the fuel system then conducts a fuel pressure test to check the reason for low pressure.
  • If fuel pressure is lower than manufacturer-specified pressure, then inspect the fuel pump, injector pump and the fuel pressure regulator for any leakages.
  • Replace the components that can’t be repaired and check for any faults in the wirings as well as sometimes it may lead to flashing of wrong OBD code.
  • Also check for faulty PCM and replace and reprogram as required. Although this problem is rare but can store and flash wrong OBD code due to system error.

Common Mistakes When Diagnosing The P0094 Code

Check all the components for leakages. Do not replace any perfectly working component without inspection for damages or faults. This part is a common cause of this issue, however is always best to know for sure that a part is faulty by testing it before replacing anything.
