About Headlight Switch
A headlight switch gives the provision to activate the headlights and tail lights. In addition to this, a headlight switch enables the user to adjust between intensities of light for different conditions. The switch is usually found on the dashboard as a knob or as a rotating knob on one of the steering stalks or even as a push button. Without a headlight switch or a faulty switch, the operation of headlight is not possible blinding the night visibility for a driver and potentially cause a lot of accidents.
What is the purpose of Headlight Switch?
The switch enables the driver to have complete control on the headlights of a vehicle right from turn on and off to adjusting intensities of headlights and also give a provision to adjust the lights to high beam or low beam depending in the driving conditions making sure that the light doesn't blind the oncoming drivers.
How Headlight Switch Works?
The working of a headlight switch differs with different vehicle configurations. However, the most commonly used type is where the switch transmits a low current, a 12V signal to activate the headlight relays which in turn activate the headlights. The other types provides ground to the headlight relays or generate a 5V signal to the body control module which operates the headlamps.
Where is Headlight Switch Located?
The location of a headlight switch differs with different vehicle configurations. It can be present as a independent knob or switch on the dashboard. The switch can also be integrated into the turn signal stalks on the steering column itself.
