Removing - Place the vehicle on two post ramps. Disconnect the battery negative terminal. As most cars are advanced and are fitted with electronic equipment, removing terminals will not create faults in the ECU. Remove the timing cover. We will need Special Tools for this process like camshaft lock, crankshaft lock, FIP lock, tensioner bearing tool and belt tensioner gauge. Take the first piston on TDC level by rotating the crankshaft. As you rotate the crankshaft, you will find a hole near the gearbox, from that hole you may see a mark on the flywheel or a separate hole to fix the special tool. Lock the hole with a special tool and the crankshaft will be locked. With this you will see the overhead camshaft will come in position where both the valves will be in the closed position of the first cylinder. There is a special groove at the end of the camshaft, fit special tool at its end. With this, camshaft will be locked. The same way FIP has a special hole in its gear wheel, lock it with a special tool. Loosen the tensioner bearing with a special tool, the belt will be loose and can be removed. Remove all the idler bearing and tensioner bearing and water pump.

Assembling - Fit the tensioner bearing, water pump and idler bearing, take new belt and fit it properly in the crankshaft gear tooth and same way on the FIP then on camshaft and on the idler and tensioner bearings. Tighten the tensioner bearing with a special tool. Check the tension with the help of a belt tensioner gauge or check it by pressing with thumb it should get pressed quarter inch from its original position. Adjust the belt by loosening or tightening the tensioner bearings. Remove all the special locks and fit the timing cover and the battery terminal. Start the car’s engine to confirm.
