What is the purpose of Door Lock Actuator?
The door lock actuators are electric motors which control a mechanical link that operates the door locks. A system of vacuum motors, hoses and actuators is also used for operating the locking mechanisms in a number of vehicles. There is a small computer that performs the task of operating the actuators despite the type of system. The machine receives signals to lock or unlock a door using a remote fob main, the main lock in the car door, a dash / door panel button and, in a variety of situations, a remote Onstar activation signal or similar mechanisms.
How Door Lock Actuator Works?
The door lock actuator, a behind-the-scenes device, performs the task of locking and unlocking the door of the vehicle with a button push. Positioned inside the frame, it is at times fitted with an electric motor, gears and attachment, or cable that extends or retracts the lock to operate. The lock actuators are regulated in all newer vehicles by electronic controls that receive the right anti-theft code from a key fob transmitter before the electric current is transmitted to unlock the doors. All doors have power lock actuators of their own and the motor turns in one direction to lock and unlock the doors.
Where is Door Lock Actuator Located?
The actuator for the power door lock can be found inside the door close to the lock mechanism. It is also mounted in the latch in the newer models, instead of being remotely connected via a rod or cable. When the power door lock switch or key fob button is pressed, an electric current is transmitted to the door actuators. Then, it locks and unlocks the door.
