Transmissions mount is a part that secures the transmission in place. It is important to keep the transmission in place as it controls the entire drivetrain of the vehicle. It undergoes a lot of vibrations and various other stresses and the transmissions mounts help the transmission case to withstand those. There is a minimum of one transmission mount but there could be more than two mounts also. A performance transmission can tackle higher loads and stresses easily and is replaced with a stock one when there is a performance or power upgrade that has been done to the engine.
What is the purpose of Transmission Mount?
A mount has two major parts, the bracket and the mount itself. The bracket is usually made out of steel and the mount is a rubber bushing that is bolted or chemically bonded to the bracket. The bracket is what actually secures the transmission and the rubber bushing is in place for damping the vibrations.
How Transmission Mount Works?
The mounts are the components that the transmissions sits on and is secured safety in the same place. It restricts all kinds of possible motions and it is is subjected to high vibrations and could be dangerous if the transmission is moving around.
Where is Transmission Mount Located?
The transmission mount is found at the rear bottom side of the transmission.
