Buick Regal Thermostat
A thermostat is installed in vehicles because it can sense a system's temperature and operate it at a desired setpoint according to the system's temperature. Thermostat is commonly used in appliances or systems capable of transmitting heat or cold and performing behavior at setpoint temperature, such as building HVAC systems, refrigerators, vehicle air-conditioning, etc.
How Thermostat Works?
Thermostat is mostly found in liquid-cooled engines . The main purpose or job of thermostats is to restrict the coolant flow to the radiator until the engine warms up, if the engine is cold, the coolant flow will be retained until the engine is started and heated. When this happens the thermostat opens and the coolant flows into the radiator, the engine will reach an operating temperature of 95 degrees.
Where is Thermostat Located?
The thermostat lies between the radiator and the engine. It is placed on the cylinder head underneath a housing near the water pump.
