Product Overview
SKF provides the world with its long-lasting front and rear hub assembly and requires little maintenance. SKF wheel bearings and hub units are used in about 90 million vehicles globally, which is more than all other brands altogether. All SKF hub bearings are high-quality components made with superior steel and surface treatments, premium seals, OE-grade sensors, precision production procedures, and tight assembly specifications. Generation 1 hub bearings (HBU1) have a double row ball or taper roller design for driven wheels. Generation 2 hub bearings (HBU2) include a double row ball or taper roller design for commonly used non-driven wheels. HBU2 bearings have a double row ball or taper roller design, including an outer ring with an integral flange that eliminates the need for a separate hub. It is usually reserved for non-driven front and rear wheels. For driven and non-driven wheels, the generation 3 hub bearings (HBU3) include a double row ball or taper roller design. These bearings have a flange for wheel and brake attachment and a second flange for fastening the unit to the suspension.
- SKF Generation 1 (HBU1) front and rear hub assembly is designed to handle the unique operating characteristics of vehicle wheels
- When a cornering load is given to the bearing, the unit provides specialized support
- Gives the correct clearance as the primary components, an outer ring, and two inner rings, are perfectly matched with the ball set
- Glass fiber reinforced polyamide cages are used for the two ball rows
- Greased and sealed to last a lifetime
- Inbuilt impulse wheel is included in the units for automobiles with ABS or TCS
- SKF Generation 2 (HBU2) front and rear hub assembly improved bearing performance as the outer ring raceways are induction hardened
- Provided flanged outer ring is intended to be a light part of the structure
- Rigid flange with threaded holes or studs are used to center and mount the brake and wheel
- Flange's sizes are custom-engineered to meet the needs of each customer
- An impulse wheel (tone ring) is fixed on the outer ring of the units for automobiles with wheel speed sensors
- SKF Generation 3 (HBU3) front and rear hub assembly is designed for both driven and non-driven wheel applications, and lubricated and secured for a lifetime
- As compared to older styles, the fully integrated system simplifies corner design and handling significantly
- Installation of a distinct inner ring for the inboard ball row increases dynamic load-bearing capacity
- Each inner ring has an interference fit, while the outer ring flange is fastened to the suspension
- Both brake and wheel are mounted on the spinning inner ring, which has a robust flange, spigot, and threaded holes or studs
- Wheel speed sensor is included in units for automobiles with ABS, Traction Control, and/or Stability Control systems
- Sensor are found between bearing rows, on the inboard flange or on the outboard flange
