What is SKF known for?
SKF has been a leading supplier of global technology since 1907. The company is known for continually developing new technologies, and using products that offer their customers competitive advantages is what distinguished them from their competition. This can be achieved by mixing hands-on experience across the SKF technology platforms in more than 40 industries with their knowledge. The product portfolio includes bearings and units, seals, mechatronics, lubrication systems and services. SKF's success is based on product knowledge, customer engagement and commitment to company principles.
SKF's technology development today focuses on reducing an asset's environmental impact during its lifecycle, both in its own operations as well as those of its customers. The portfolio of SKF Beyond Zero products is the latest example of what SKF has to offer in this sector.
About SKF Front Wheel Bearings
Bearings reduce friction by providing smooth metal balls or rollers, and a smooth inner and outer metal surface for the balls to roll against. These balls or rollers bear the load, allowing the device to spin smoothly. These bearings use elements such as balls or rollers to avoid sliding contact. The usual practice is to provide two more-or-less cylindrical housings or races, the inner one of which fits onto the shaft and rotates with it, while the outer race fits into the fixed or non-rotating component. The rolling member’s balls or rollers run freely between the two races. In ball bearings in general, the rolling elements are spheres of high quality, hardened and polished alloy steel, rolling in hardened alloy steel inner and outer. These bearing are fitted in the knuckle assembly of the car which is on the front side of a car. A drive shaft is then inserted through the wheel bearing, after assembling of the brake disk and the caliper the main bolt of the drive shaft is tightened and the wheel is then fitted. If the front wheel bearing is bad it will make noise while running this noise gets high as the gas pedal is pressed. Lubrication is essential for the long life of the ball bearing. It carries heat away from heavily loaded bearings and prevents corrosion. Grease and oil are suitable lubricants for ball bearings. The wheel seal is supposed to fit very tight in the wheel assembly and protects the wheel bearings from dirt, water, and other debris that can cause damage. Inside the wheel bearing there is a tremendous amount of grease that keeps the bearings running smooth, cool and free. However, when the wheel seal is loose, the grease can and often does escape from the wheel bearing. This could damage the wheel bearing and could even stall the vehicle.
