So far, it's looking good!

The dial-a-ride feature is neat, though the dial feels a bit cheap and it's hard to know the exact setting you're on. Overall, it seems well constructed. I'll give an update in a few weeks...

Well-crafted shocks but missing instructions and flimsy knob
newtonReviewed in PICTON, ON on June 22, 2024
Slapped these shocks onto my '94 Toyota 4Runner 4WD and the install was a breeze, which is typical for truck shocks. The kit's got all the bits and bobs you'd need, but the instructions? Nowhere to be found. A bit of a head-scratcher since Rancho could've easily thrown in a single sheet with the vital info. You can dig around their website for the lowdown on bushing/washer order and valving settings, but it's a hassle that could've been avoided. For the record, these are nine-way adjustable, with setting 1 being super soft and 9 rock solid. Word on the street is that a 5-6 setting is pretty comparable to the Bilstein 5100s. If you're hauling or towing, crank it up to 9, but if you're hitting the dirt tracks, maybe dial it back to around 4. I set mine to 6 and the ride is noticeably firm but smooth. However, the front still does a little hop on bumps, so I'm eyeing more tweaks. The adjustment knob is this flimsy plastic thing that doesn't inspire much confidence. You're stuck with two mounting choices: expose it to every road evil imaginable or flip it and play the guessing game with your settings. I'm crossing my fingers it doesn't get knocked out by a rogue rock. The design could use a rethink, to be honest. There's a slight click when you shift settings, but the dial only marks 1/9 and 5, so good luck squinting under the truck. It’s often best to just start at 5 and adjust from there. I did feel a bit of resistance at the 1 setting, enough to worry about snapping off the knob. Bottom line: these shocks are solidly built, come with top-notch parts, and offer budget-friendly adjustability. Keep an eye out for sales – you might snag a free shock if you time it right. They usually roll out deals in spring and October.
