Remove the Factory Fuel Door

Step 1

First of all, you should remove and replace the factory fuel door. There would be two screws or two rivets on the left side of the round housing. Then the screws should be removed. Or else utilize the 17/64” drill bit so that the rivets can be drilled out. Just be careful and go slowly. The paint should be damaged when drilling. Now once the hole which would be in rivet would start to widen, then the drill should be tilted in various directions so that enough of the rivet material can be removed to weaken and give way.

Step 2

Once the rivets or screws would be removed, then the plastic shroud should be loosened up to hold the cap as well as hose by removing the two screws above the shroud as well as the plastic clip below. Step 1

If you want to release the plunger, then you will have to get under the automobile by utilizing a flashlight and then the plunger should be pushed back with the finger. Now once the plunger would be released, then the door would start springing open and then the door would be re-aligned so that the plunger would not bind.

Step 4

Now once the door would be seated properly, and then the door would open up and then close easily, then the mounting screws should be tightened up and then the screws which would be holding the shroud should be reinstalled. If the fuel cap would be attached to the factory hinge, then it should be pulled free by squeezing the two pins which would hold it to the hinge. After that the plastic piece should be pushed into the hole which would be provided on the Empire hinge until it would snap in.
