Carburetor is located just before the intake manifold and after the air filter assembly, near the engine. Air flows from the top of the carburetor and fuel is connected on the side. A carburetor can be also a multi barrel carburetor.

Types Of Carburetor Kits & Parts

  1. Carburetor Gasket - Carburetor base gasket is made from durable heat-resistant nitrite rubber compound material. It is used to seal fit the carburetor with air intake manifold.
  2. Carburetor Jets - These jets control fuel flow into the system. The shape of the entry, exit, and size determines flow. A carburetor jet is a tiny hole in the narrow end of a carburetor tube. This jet is responsible for allowing fuel to be drawn into the intake.
  3. Needle And Float - Needle and float are parts of a very important mechanism, the float floats above the fuel in the flood tank and moves the needle up or down, when the level of fuel goes less the needle moves down and opens the valve to let more fuel come in.
  4. Idle Screw - This is the screw by which we can control the amount of fuel going in the system even when the throttle is zero.
  5. Carburetor Accelerator Cable - This is a part that can most probably the first part to get damaged, this is the throttle cable, it is connected to the accelerator and the throttle valve.

How Do Carburetor Kits & Parts Work?

  1. Float Chamber - Float chamber is the reservoir for the fuel, it stores fuel in small quantities for the venturi to such in. It has the needle assembly that maintains the level of fuel in the float tank.
  2. Strainer - It is used to filter fuel before entering the carburetor, otherwise any particles in the fuel will block the nozzle.
  3. Metering System - The metering system controls the flow of fuel into the nozzle. It is responsible to form a correct mixture of air-fuel. It consists of two main parts, Metering orifice and Fuel discharge nozzle.
  4. Idling System - It is a bypass path from the float chamber to directly into the venturi, this path only opens when the system is idling.
  5. Throttle Valve - It is a butterfly valve situated at the exit of the venturi tube. It controls the speed of the vehicle by providing a controlled amount of mixture.
  6. Choke Valve - It is the same as the throttle valve in construction but situated at the entrance of the venturi tube. This is used to provide a very rich mixture during starting in the cold season.

  1. Reduced Engine Performance - This is the first symptom that we can see, because carburetor is responsible for fuel and air flow into the system, so in case the carburetor develops any problem this will be the first thing we can notice.
  2. Black smoke from exhaust - Black smoke shows that the engine is running on extra rich fuel mix, this can be due to faulty float chamber of damaged butterfly valves also.
  3. Backfiring or overheating - This is another common symptom that can occur if there is any problem with the carburetor that is restricting it from making proper lean or rich mixture when required.
