The spark plug is one of the critical components of the vehicle's ignition system. A spark plug transmits electrical current from the ignition system to the engine chamber to ignite the compressed fuel/air mixture through an electric spark while maintaining the combustion pressure inside the engine. The spark plug has a shell with threaded metal, electrically insulated from the central electrode by a porcelain insulator. A heavily insulated wire connects the central electrode with a resistor to the output terminal of an ignition coil, known as the magneto. The spark plug's metal shell is screwed into the cylinder and electrically grounded.
What is the purpose of spark plug?
Spark plugs are the vehicle's tiniest light set. Which is small but extremely strong. The spark of electricity generated by the plug over a small gap is generating the ignition required to start your engine. By setting the engine pistons in motion, the car starts, stays powered and produces a smooth combustion of the compressed air-fuel mixture. They are designed to withstand the intense heat and pressure inside the cylinders and are designed to burn off fuel additives or other deposits of pollutants.
How spark plug works?
It is the different components used to produce spark plugs that are responsible for making them do their work safely. They consist of an insulated electrode in the center connected to a heavily insulated wire which connects either to an external ignition coil or magneto circuit. Which forms the grounded terminal at the base of the spark plug. There is a difference in spark within the cylinder. To put it simply. There are two types of internal combustion engines; spark-ignition engines (requires spark plugs to start combustion) and compression-ignition engines / diesel engines which compress air and then inject diesel fuel into the hot compressed air mixture. The above may also use glow plugs to boost the cold start functions of the vehicle.
